help with Civ 2 version(french civ2 2.42)

i have a classic french civ 2 that i patched to 2.42

unfortunaltely i CANT load the shadowdale and starlifter savegames, when i load civ say me it is not a savegame file
i have not tried to load other player savegames but i wonder if i have the good version of civ

will i have to go to civ 2 gold? what version of civ 2 do u play in GOTM? does it change the rules?(maybe gold has differents rules and less bug than the classic 2.42)

i downloaded savegames froms the GOTM1(from the archive) and almost noone of them can be loaded on my computer

plz help i feel like out of ur world

You'll need MGE that's it, however you can patch your classic civ 2 to MGE using the patch found in the download-section on this page.

saves are not backwards compatible.You can't load a mge save with FW or 2.42.

A clever and very annoying marketing ploy.
