Someone please help me!!

I had some problems with CIV and went through what I thought was the deinstall process. However, it is apparent that this did not completely remove the program. Now I cannot reinstall, because when I attempt this, the only option is to remove the program?? I emailed infogrames, and they emailed me back that I need to correct the registry??

I have Win98SE. Can anyone tell me how to edit the registry to remove all traces of the original Civ install??

Thanks in advance!

Do I need to download a registry editing program? I noticed there was one listed on Zdnet.

i saw a fix for this somewhere else on this forum. You have to remove all the Civ3 files manually, and delete the infogrames interactive folder from the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/infogrames interactive).

Then, find your Installshield folder (program files/common files/installshield), and let it sit in the recycle bin.

Run the setup from the Civ3 disk, and it should work.

RWZ: This worked for me when I had the same problem as you.
You edit the registry by typing regedit in the start run menu
be careful as everwhere you read says editing the reqistry can cause problems. This is the only thing I have ever changed and it worked for me.

Thank you ROBZ! Problem was solved easily with your clear and concise instructions! This is the kind of thing which makes the Civ Fanatics board absolutely essential to Civvers!
