okay, i changed the shading colour, right, to fix that glitch, but now the shadingdoesnt turn up at all?? what going on?

1) make sure you have the latest flicster (build 5).

2) Make sure the shading color you are using only appears once in the palette, at position 254. If this doesn't show well, you can try moving the palette position to 248. It's the palette position, not the color that makes the shadow. Changing the color lets you insure that your chosen shadow color only appears once in the palette. If it appears earlier, you run the risk that your editing program will 'optimize' your palette, and change the palette position.

Aslo Moeniir in the next version add in the readme

"The created FLC file will not display correctly in animation shop. Each individual FLC requires 10 frames, but when merged and opened in animation shop an additional frame is added. This gives the impression that the last movement has only 3 frames. This is not the case."

Thats what I've discovered and thought was a bug.

You're right heardie. This is already covered in the readme - sort of. Since a merged FLICster file is actually a Civ3 Unit FLC (if i've done everything right), all of the info in "the gory details" section of the readme file applies to merged flcs as well as originial Civ3 Unit FLCs. Section "1 - Frames" in The Gory Details covers this behavior - the extra frame is the ring frame, which is the delta from the last true frame (10 in your example) to the first.

Incidentally, keep a watch here on CivFanatics for the next major release version of FLICster - at least another week away (sorry, I've been sick). Among many cool new features, the new version will allow you to view Civ3-style Unit flics - in original color or with alpha blending enabled ( in other words, with true shadow & transparency), from any direction. The number 1 design goal of the new FLICster is to eliminate any need for an animation program (such as AS). You will still need a graphics package (Paint Shop Pro, or any of the others).

I've let enough cats out of the bag. Back to work....

Really? Sound good :)

I would be willling to beta test, as I am spending a lot of time wihth build 5
