Help with GOTM download

HI,

I hope someone can help. I have saved the GOTM in the saved games folder and cannot load it. CivII tells me that it is an obsolete format.

Any ideas?

Which version of CivII are you using? The GOTM is in Classic/2.42 format, which all CivII versions should be able to open. Also, are you using a PC or Mac?

Worked fine for me, but I'm using 2.42. Anybody out there open it with ToT?

No I cannot open it either and I am also using TOT!

Please let me know if you find a solution to the problem. I really dont want to start playing Civ III.

Reading up on ToT, Wobbegong's comparison chart lists "Backward compatibility" as "No", but he puts a caveat on that. There is a CivConverter which will convert FW and MGE saves to ToT. Now the starting save here is not either of the above, but could be read into one of those versions (I have MGE in addition to Classic) and saved out, then converted. Do you have either FW or MGE yourself?

The second issue is whether Duke will allow this. I think the GOTM Staff only accepts Classic or MGE submissions. Maybe if a few ToT-equipped players asked he might consider it.
