I recently converted an old warlords mod into bts by copying the custom parts I had made into vanilla bts xml files from the warlords xml files. I added the new strings bts added were they were needed and triple checked everything. So I go to load the mod and it loads vanilla bts. Doesn't show my custom civs in the pedia but it does show the leaders names but no icons and they are not selectable. My custom music will not play either just the vanilla music. Its like the game completely ignored all the changes except the new leaders names. I've gone back over everything and its all in the right place please help me!

You are probably loading cached XML. Try holding down shift while the game initializes - or disable caching in the CivilizationIV.ini file located in your My Games folder.

Ok I tried that same thing still happens. Turned the caching off and tried loading it while holding shift. When I made the new mod folder in bts and copied the files over I never ran it before I started modding it, could that be whats causing this?

You're probably putting your modified files into the wrong folder or something. If you give a detailed account of exactly what you've done (or better yet post pictures of folder structures) someone would definitely be able to sort this out for you.

Oh well while writing down the folders I found the problem *facepalm* my assets folder was named "assests". Anyway thank you for the help learned something new about the cached stuff. :)

I was actually reading another active thread and passing off what I was learning myself on to you. So I could as well have linked to that instead. But you're welcome in any case. :D

Nevermind fixed that problem...doesn't give any errors now but once its done loading the mod it just crashes. So the mod loads fine but once it gets to the Initengine part the screen goes black and the windows end program window comes up. Doesn't do this on normal bts or with any other mod I have just this one. Any ideas?

Tripple check, that every ArtDefine entry is where it should be.
If you have e.g. ART_DEF_ANCIENT_WARLORD in your unitInfos.xml, but in the ArtDefines_units.xml it's named ART_DEF_WARLORD_ANCIENT, the game will crash upon starting, that's the most common crash reason here.

This handy utility by davidlallen might help with the current problem.

Well I've gone over everything and can't find anything wrong, so I'm just gonna start over new and test each change as I make it. Thanks for all the help :)
