Help with pics of arabic/islamic medieval buildings

There's so many links on that site... I'm sure you'll find what you need.

Blue Monkey - Mughal architecture is not very Arabic. :p

Varw - check out the pics I posted when I tried to convince you to make that Arabic mosque. ;)

You're right, it's Indo-Islamic. So since he asked for Medieval Arabic/Islamic and I got 2 out of 3 (already knowing that the Mughals are Islamic descendants of Mongols, rather than from Arabia) I guess my suggestion of where I'd look if he couldn't easily find what he was looking for was worthless? And I guess my reference to Samarkand also should be ignored, even though a lot of the relevant architecture was sponsored by the Abbasids, since the majority of the population was of Persian descent? I'd better not mention Al-Andalus, or any other of the Berber controlled areas as other places to look either. So I guess he's pretty much limited to the Arabian penninsula, rather than looking at anywhere else that fell under their cultural hegemony.

I guess, since he's looking for Arabic buildings he probably wants to make a city set for the Middle East.

Aren't we being a bit dramatic here? :p

I didn't even mention your Samarkand reference, so why do you assume I disagree with using that as a reference?

My point basicly is that Mughal architecture belongs to a different culture group than the Arabic/Middle Eastern, so if he suddenly mixed the two it would be quite weird.

Hey Var,

I happen to have .BR5 files with the Arabic Palace type backgrounds I made for some of my FF Leaderheads lying around, and they all include several buildings and palm trees that you could use.

Just say the word, and I'll upload them real quick.

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone :)

Hikaro, that would be nice :)
It is not certain that i will use them though; i could not use Wyrms models since in city scale (due to their modelling which was ideal for a much larger pic) they did not look good imo. But it is definately worth a try..

Please don't fill the cities up with trees either, real cities didn't/doesn't look that way. A few is ok of course.

Apperantly you've never been to Japan (Particularly Atami and Yokosuka), or PA (Particularly Chambersburg and Orbisonia/Rockhill Furnace), since most of the towns there are at least half trees. :p

I'll try to get the Bryce files up soon.... Busy with unit stuff right now, though.

Actually, it depends. :) Many cities in the warm area of the world have lots of vegetation covering most parts of them. And not only in the warm area! :)
