I am really looking forward to getting civ4. But, Ihave no idea if it will run on my computer. All I know is its a Sony Vaio with a Pentium 4 processor. Please Help!

That would be real hard to say without any specs.
Please post your Make and Model number then post a dxdiag file of your system.

start/run

type in

Dxdiag

hit enter and wail for it to finish.

After it is finished hit the save all info button toward the bottom right of dxdiag screen and it will ask you the name a location of where to save the file.

Submit that here please.

You do not meet all recommended specs to run the game.

You have on board graphics.

Your model does not seem to have an agp port either.

You could possibly get a pci card (not pci-e) to come up to spec to run the game. The game provides you with dircet x 9c so that will fix your direct x problem. Your manufacturer (sony) will have to tell you tho if you can and how to turn your on board graphics chip off in order to install a pci card.

Your memory is shared with graphics now and has pulled it below spec for this game also. More memory would help this game greatly it is a memory hog.

your XP is sp1.

Sp2 would probably be needed to run it right. Upgradeable online thru MS.

Your page file would have to be adjusted higher to play the game as it sits to low now. 1500mb or more.

Bottom line:

Your computer is under minimum spec for this game.

It could be possible to upgrade your computer to play civ iv, but other issues might pop up as a result of the upgrade. The big X-factor in doing upgrades to named brand pc s would be heat and power and how it would handle the strain of added heat and power consumption as a result of your upgrades.
