This is from a game played on 'Emperor' where the ai supposed to be cranked up pretty good.

If you look at the first picture you can see that me, the french, is on the top of the power dog pile. Now one would think this distinction would command some respect from other nations.

Nope.

Please look at the following second picture for what happened next.

Here Cleopatra thought I would fork over my most valuable tech - the key to the Great Library - to avoid having to face the wrath of her mousquitos (warriors actually).

I've found that some Civs will ALWAYS demand Literature. It seems that they do that because they know the value of the Great Library, but don't want to research Literature that early.

In about 50% of my games if I'm taking a b-line to the Great Library, I end up going to war because I refuse a demand for Literature.

Alright, I cropped the picture to make it fit the small attachment limit. Here we have a very eager Shaka, leader of the zulu, chomping at the bit to get it on with Cleopatra. All I did was throw him a small biscuit - some 2 bit tech which even I have no idea what its for - and he's ready to fight tooth and nail with his neighbor. These neighbor vs neighbor fights are the most nasty 'cause the two nations are lined up against each other. Shaka didn't mind though.

Alright, same game, and here is Catherine of Russia proving what an airhead she is (ie: the stupidity of the AI). She wants me to give up a perfectly valuable tech (I'm not sure what its for either but anyways...) for a penny and a map of her land which I've already completely scoped out with my auto-explore warriors.
I felt like declaring war over this insult, but didn't have the heart (or enough offensive units which could make the long treck there without being utterly obsolete upon arrival). This is typical of the "tech deals" the AI always offers me, even when it has tech I don't have.

AI tends to put a pretty high value on maps and code of laws could be very cheap if everybody else already have it.

The "Great History of the World" means nothing really.

Don't you have difficulty concentrating on the game itself?

BTW, I'd have thought that Shaka would be the first image to change.

No way man, that hideous caricature previously representing Catherine made my stomach churn. I got some pretty ugly people in my game too like Kohl for Germany is quite gruesome and Churchill for the english is no heart's desire either.

Here's another cheapshot attempt by the AI to try and pocket my priceless Great Library tech. Ain't no one gettin it from me even at spearpoint. I felt like giving her a kick in the jugs.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, a thousand minutes to those of us with modems.

LOL I hope its worth the wait.

Shawn, hey!! I had 3 cities, now 4!! I managed to get Madrid in Spain. Italy lost 3 settlers escorted by spearmen to barbarian attacks going in there hehe!! No one's doin any better than I am (see the mini map in the corner). Russia is big but weak and has an airhead for a leader. I could clear it out of asia on a whim using an alliance but first I wanna let everyone grow and build up a nice army before starting a world war.

This picture shows the smallness of Rome, Germany, Israel and the arabs under arafat. I had to crop the picture a lot to fit in the miniscule attachment allowance. Baghdad is the city to the right of Jerusalem. I'm still one of the top dogs. Here you can see Loins, my 3rd city with a bustling 3 population. The arabs weasled in and placed a city in the greek peninsula. My map here is not so well drawn due to the limitations of placing 16 civs on a standard size map. I had to because Marla's world map was just way too big for my computer to handle.

I like this shot because its the first time I've ever seen someone happy about descending into anarchy. She's dreaming about all the unregulated orgies coming up.

These mods look like GenghisFarb's leaderheads with Womak's terrain.

That's right. The terrain is a combo of Womak, Snoopy terrain, Snoopy cities, GenghisFarb's urban sprawl etc. plus other terrain changes to huts and barbarian villages. The resources I took off the extra resource picture file included with the original civ 3 game. Plus over 100 new units added from the unit graphics forum - all except 2 are modern era units so they don't show up here.

Call me old fashioned, but these graphics mods are just too much for me. IMO the standard graphics are much easier to follow.
