Disciple: After his latest rampage through Hopeville, it strikes Patriot that it isn't a really heroic thing to do. Jason finds himself going to church and becoming a disciple of religion. +5 Bonus to Heroic Insight so long as Patriot's conscience remains clean - IE, killing something or acting with reckless disregard for lives knocks out the bonus for that mission. 1 SP.

Flight improves to 600 KPH. Same reason as before, tinkering with suit and effects of element zero. 5 SP.

    2 SP into WIS.

The Defensive additions to the Hall of Justice that Patriot proposes:

    1. automated Machine guns designed for use against helicopters shuttling persons or soldiers to the HoJ. Automated to fire at any unauthorized aircraft. Controlled from the main room of the HoJ, requires handprint confirmation of a member of the HoJ.

    2. Radar that can be seen on screens in the main room.

    3. Gas dispensers in all rooms that can spill out non lethal gas to knockout all persons in the room in case intruders make it through our external defenses.

    4. Grenade launchers from all upstairs windows in case a vehicular insertion is attempted. Tear gas nades, knockout gas nades, and frags nades are all available.

    5. All walls and doors are reinforced with steel alloys to withstand heavy impact and explosions.

    6. Weapons such as pistols and rifles loaded with non lethal plastic bullets as well as batons and other non lethal melee weapons are stocked and hidden in all rooms.

So, does anyone object to flying to Borneo and killing alien scum next mission?

I'd prefer to take them prisoner, but I can get behind Borneo being the next mission.

No. Placing auto-firing weapons in a busy city is almost criminally irresponsible and dangerous.

    Yes.

No. As always, the only way to make these work effectively would be if we kept somebody around to operate them.

No. As before, these would need an operator. In any case, a vehicular assault on the HoJ whilst we are inside it is likely better met by us acting like superheroes and taking advantage of our abilities, rather than trying to play infantry.

    Yes.

No. Practically all of us are capable of fighting effectively without weapons, so any attempt to make use of these caches would be largely useless. We also don't want somebody else finding them and using them against us, which, as always, is the most likely thing to happen to these kind of defences.

I agree with Kinich: better to capture and non-lethally interrogate them.

Gosh darnit DT, stop ruining my fun :p

"Yesterday, the Justice Guild stayed home while a military convoy was stolen by a new villain, calling himself 'Pimpoleon' - Just, seriously? Pimpoleon? I know that's what it says on the prompter, but really? I guess really. -who then burned down Salvador Navy Base at the cost of thirteen of our soldiers' lives. Statements from several soldiers indicate Pimpoleon appeared as a star burning in the sky, shooting down incoming munitions with bolts of lighting and responding with waves of fire. The commander of Salvador Navy Base, General Carlos, was unavailable for comment as he is recovering from whiplash in Hopeville Medical.

Sadly, as the first thing to burn in Salvador Navy Base was the telephone, Chief Dundee was never informed of the conflagration so the Justice Guild was never called out.

An official complaint was filed against the Castro Administration by the Spanish-NATO warship Valencia, who claims a Cuban military jet of advanced design flew by them in the Hopeville demilitarized zone three times despite warnings to stay away. Castro has yet to respond.

Another complaint was filed by the Soviet submarine Revolustiak, who claims a member of the Justice Guild entered the vessel, broke its control consoles and assaulted some of its crew thus prolonging repairs. The administration's response has been to offer to pay for the submarine's repairs in full. The Soviet Union has accepted this offer.

The United States-NATO base on Key West burst into flames late last night. The inferno became so energetic and powerful that the backblast from the Freedom Star was required to extinguish the flames in time to save a group of survivors thus explaining last night's comet impact and minor tremors. Reports indicate seven US-NATO soldiers survived, of which five have been placed in mental hospitals for PTSD.

A Soviet naval squadron in the South-east Asian sea has been met with an Australian-NATO squadron - currently, the fleets face each other across Borneo.

Can private citizens be charged with war crimes? Alaska-based Kronos Security Subsidies, known for both its combination of quality and low prices in personal security devices such as door locks and its smaller line of military grade systems and its organized, effective though expensive mercenaries has been accused of working with the Soviet Union in the subjugations of Japan and Afghanistan, and of handling such sensitive issues as the razing of villages known to harbor rebels. CEO and owner William Blake, also a holder of 4% in Gerani Industries and 24% in Top Star Chemical Applications, had this to say: 'My people are paid to operate by standards. We work for our employer, but we have never lost sight of our goals.'

The Mayor has yet to comment on any standing issue.

Fear, Neckbeard, Alice, Synapse, Nashiru, and Desperado earn 5SP each.

Patriot earns 1SP (His actions caused a debatably necessary retcon, which is worth negative 4SP on a first offense and obliteration on a second offense)

    Mission results:

(Neckbeard) Soviet ambassador Soytseyva has offered to give famed Texan superhero The Banded Armadillo in exchange for the infamous smuggler Maryna Janelyn
(Neckbeard) Maryna Janelyn/Isabella Soto claims that the Mysterious Presence's name is Anna, and she was first found in Japan fleeing the Soviet Union
(Neckbeard) Isabella Soto claims your parents arranged some kind of extraction from the US with her, which she disguised as a pirate attack thus kicking off your superhero career. According to her, your parents are in Haiti.
(Alice) Yes, you are that person Hex met in Turkey. The salacious details are best kept as details.
(Alice) Hex has claimed Kronos Security Subsidies is a front corporation for Black Candle, and any Black Candle operative can suborn anything made by KSS as easily as breathing. As a note, the Hall of Justice's security systems (Aside from the Mayor's "Anti-gay defense turrets") are KSS material. To change this would mean accepting significant increases in cost and reductions in quality.
(Alice) Since the Soviet Union occupies Japan, you think their intervention in Borneo is a possibility. It is up to you to decide whether this concern is worth sharing.
(Alice) Analyzing the "Freedom Star" shockwave last night (Which gave you quite a shock) it seems likely that any hit in the general region of Hopeville would inflict catastrophic damage to the city.
(Synapse) A look at the Mysterious Presence's psychic sensing of Hopeville has revealed it is no weaker than it ever has been. The question as to why it fled from a confrontation remains open.
(Desperado) Reviewing what you know of Black Candle, it seems highly likely you'll be competing with at least one of their teams in Borneo.
(Desperado) It occurs to you that there are really only five places "The Basement" can be: Beneath General Carlos' residence, beneath Chief Dundee's residence, beneath Fidel Castro's palace, beneath Alan's base (Wherever that is) and under Hopeville Tower, home of the Mayor.
(Patriot) Despite the official line where the Soviet Union has no supers, you've encountered one and she kicked your butt.
(Patriot) It occurs to you that damaging the Soviet submarine merely shifted the cost of repairs from the Soviet Union onto the Cuban government.

    Feat Opportunity:

    Character: Fear
    Name: Player Determined
    Cost: 5SP, Minimum STR 8
Effect: Unarmed attacks gain the "Vehicle-killer" tag.
Description: Seeing the Soviet Union deploy power armored troopers has made Fear seriously think about the possibility of having to take one down. While the Soviet Exoskeletons are not that much better armored than a soldier wearing a dozen flak vests, adding a hardened outer shell to that same armor suit could create a soldier with the same level of general protection as a light military APC. Thus Fear is seriously considering modifying his suit and striking techniques to create a weapon capable of harming such adversaries.

"This just in! Infamous criminal Rocketeer has escaped from Stonegate prison with the help of small-time burglar Streak. Citizens are encouraged to be very, very careful."

Gracias. I'm still plannng on the trip to Borneo being next mission, but once I get back, it's Steve-hunting time.

-Drop Shield (8 SP): A handheld object that, when deployed, forms a 2 meter tall by 1 meter wide elliptical barrier of energy, blocking any damage from explosives or bullets. Absorbs a maximum of 20 HP before it stops. Allows people to walk through it, and permits shooting from the inside (user side) out. Minimum one use per major encounter.

You know what's REALLY funny? Lets take a look at one of the feats I had in mind but hadn't gotten around to asking about the price of yet:

I'm assuming it being a Feat opportunity means I can get it cheaper though?

It has taken me a long time to calculate this update - technically, an opposing character utilized a feat called "START Violator" which permitted it to reduce global SP gain by 2 points. But would it have been fair to fully apply the penalty? As I do not feel I represented the threat adequately, the effects of "START Violator" will not be applied.

    For future reference, though:

    Spoiler :
    Name: F-4E Phantom II

-F-4E Damage Effects (Left Wing or Right Wing destroys the aircraft pilot may eject, Pilot causes vehicle-destroying crash, Engine sets speed to 625kph, Fuselage sets ceiling to 5km, Tail sets climb rate to .4km/action, Rudder sets AIM to 4, Fuel forces aircraft to return to base)
-Double Shot (May use two AIM-9 Missile shots in one action to gain Poly-damage[10 modules])
-Countermeasures (Twice per mission, instantly evade one incoming missile attack)
-START Violator (B48 Tactical Nuclear Bomb auto-hits, usage reduce max. SP gain by 2 points)

-Eject! (Once per mission, spawn one Gunner, destroys F-4E)
    Bio:

I currently owe PMs to Red, DT, Arrow, and Arya which I will send as soon as I become inspired as to Robin's actual role and finish updating the tank/shuttle/FearJet/FearCar stats for the new system.

As one more note, vehicles are technically characters in my system. Because I'm deploying characters with definitive weaknesses, I will hand out character sheets on successful Heroic Analysis more often.

    Results of mission:
FearJet was sabotaged en route to Borneo. Perpetrator and purpose is unknown.
Captured two aliens. Killed four Black Candle.

    SP gain:
5SP each for Paragon, Fear, Synapse, Nashiru, Desperado, and Neckbeard.

    Next mission:
Tonight at six. I have no real plans, but I think we just need to do it.

Based on some thinking, I have elected to give everyone time to spend their SP and prepare for the next mission, which will be either Sunday, Wednesday, or Saturday at 6PM.
