Please refer to Rout's chart and a discussion of Hidden Specials in "RC & Elysium 260AD". Our Settler from None (ME!) is currently building a Road on such a square, the Forth Special of REGIA CIVITAS.

The next step is to Mine the square into Forest, 10 turns. Hopefully it will become Silk, not Pheasant. Does anyone know which will emerge? RC has all good Food Producing Serfs. This makes it a better choice right now than Elysium, my opinion.

Little Nemo will now save REGIA CIVITAS (See RC Marco 340AD, option E). Then it may start another Settler, serfs to GLS Roads, Elvis Celebration like CJ. Then it gets to found F4 and LN starts another Settler, right?

Btw, please transfer the BFL Road Serf to TFalls Road.

MonkE moves after Saturday afternoon, Minnesota, USA time.

I actually voted to found f4!!!
Perhaps, as it is on the way, it could help with the mining of RC?

Thank you, Rout. You are a Gentleman as well as a Scholar.

I voted to Complete Road, Mine Forest,
    C. Settler goes to Road GLS S SE of Castle Jayne
Found F4 and consider GG Wine.

The vote is: Settler Road, Forest, then
goes to Irrigate Elysium, Mike's is coming. Probably smart.

The Elysium Hidden special will be hard to operate, because the Silk and Gems are already a drag on food.

How long is it before we have explosives? I prefer having a wine in front of a silk, but I'm usually too lazy to transform the silk to a wine when I get explosives:( So if we soon get explosives, and are not in an immediate need of it, I think we should wait:)

After fulfilling our current priorities, the straight path to Explosives is 4 more techs: Gunpowder; Medicine, Chemistry; Explosives.

This is the most likely priority beyond our current plan.

As the where they are or what they?

Where; we have in the hut/specials pattern. What; is based upon the grouping the game does of the specials.

Unless Rout wants to, I'll see if I can get together a map of the specials and what they would be.

I have the 'where' map. I'm curious about the what pattern. I read a post somewhere saying there are 2 types, fish and whale. They transform into the others depending on terrain. Perhaps you remember where the information is and could remind me?

This is the list I've made.
I didn't know you could see exactly what type it was under a hidden special.

There's a pattern to the specials. They appear in groups.

The game sets a 'seed' that gives you either 8 equal specials or 2*4 different specials. With your list you can see if a square is a 'whale' or a 'fish' and see what special is hidden under the grassland.

    Here's some screenshots

    8 Special Pattern

    2x2 Special Pattern

So, once we figure out the 'seed' of the map, we can figure out what all the hidden specials are.

From what I can see we have a 2x2 split seed. So, we have 2 whales in RC and 1 fish, so the fourth special should be a 'fish' one, therefore pheasant.

    Ages away!
It is irrelevant whether you have wine now or silk now, as mining of a blank hill later on can readress the resource balance. Forest is slightly more favourable at this stage in my opinion as I like pheasants for the resource bonus that does not compromise food.
