Yes, I KNOW this happens quite often, and I KNOW you've done it before too, but this made me laugh. I'll let you guys figure out why this is funny:

The research rate is too fast. Set it to double the current value in the XML, and the dates of entering eras should get more realistic.
 
The emblem on the castle looks Austrian? =P Hell I dunno! I don't see what tying the year to an era has to do with anything... I look at each Civ game as an alternate reality... not one bound to our own history.
 
Perhaps its because he just finished researching theology?

It's funny because the peasants are going to have to give a substantial portion of that grain to the local lord.
