Hi, its been a long time since I played Civ 4. Civ 5 has seen a ton of changes to wonders that have made many of them go from good to bad and back again many times with patches.

I just want to know the history of Civ 4 wonders, how they changed, how strategies were born and died around patches, and if their qualities improved. I remember reading that the Kremlin changed a few times, but I don't know where to look for every patch note throughout the history of Civ.

Thanks

I don't know where to look for every patch note throughout the history of Civ.

Almost all of them are here, I think

Or try this as a backup set of patch notes

You can probably find announcements of the patches with the notes in the General Discussion forum, if you go far enough back. Example

It seems to me that the history of strategies in CIV didn't see a whole lot of flux with patches. Scanning through the list of wonders to see what I remember: Pyramids was made more expensive (and the representation civic was rebalanced a couple times), Stonehenge had it's obsoleting tech changed, Christo Redentor got buffed so that it wasn't near worthless for a spiritual civ, the Great Wall originally produced engineer points, rather than spy points...

Yawn to all of them. I couldn't tell you which were in patches, and which were changes made in the point release of an expansion pack.

Thank you very much :D
I got BTS in 2010, nearly before CiV was released. It's nice knowing how wonders have changed little in this game. CiV has had tons of rebalancing issues. Now, I'm curious as to whether the changes in techs/buildings really created or screwed over certain strategies.

Gwall>get engineer points> rush another big wonder like mids was some sort of strategy... now gwall>GSpy>scotlend yard>play espionage has some theoretic potential.

They did this to make :espionage: more important in the game.BTS really pushed Espoinage, but it isn't like Civ5 where every patch changes the game...Not a real fan of Civ5/might not get into Civ5 until they leave it alone.I notice they really value the forums "information/whining" and its going to be a matter of time before they nerf Austria which is lame since they finally got a civ right...lol
