I was thinking of assembling a barbarian strategy. Can I pillage everything I come across? Can I pillage my capital? I wanted to do something where I drain all my resources into science/military and keeping a minimum amount of cities to grow.. then just going out and pillaging everyone unless i need the city if my pop has too much growth... just an idea. Is a barbarian strategy feasable? Well.. in this game.. barbarians just arrive either by transport or a element of different types of troops to take a city..whereas all they do is just keep buying military units to get more cities.. thats pretty much it.. i dont think they bother with science.. they probably just raise the tax to like 80% or something

Helicopters are awesome for taking cities!! I just want to be a barbarian type of civ for once.. kinda just relax while I plunder! I wish I can really be the barbarians tho

Ha! I played the roman scenario and conquered everyone and beat it! yay... I didn't cheat either... Diplomacy pretty much just stalled the inevitable.. eventually I made them buy their peace.. for a short time anyway..until i was done allocating the gold lol

I'd use half (they gave me alot) towards improvements and half towards building up forces to invade their next city heh

I might as welll play the ww2 scenario next.. I left each civ with 1 city and killed every civ in the same year lol

Talk about humiliation. I bet you can play the same game forever, huh? Like what If I just played peaceful and we all developed our borders... Could I be playing the same game forever or what lol..it seems that way.. that would be interesting... whats the last tech i got to future tech 2.. and i never used nukes.. wasnt sure how to use it..they were still playing with swords lmao

not bad at all.. my only complaintis that it takes too long to get to a city.. gotta dothis and that before you can even reach it.. then to get a decent sized army out there. transports really helped me out there.. load on marines.. build a bunch of transports and made some key amphibious assaults

There was some barbarian activity.. I quickly slaughtered them. They were sieging this ehyptian city so i just waited until only the leader was left and got gold from him lol. then i finished the siege on the city. noone really put up a challenge.

If you really like pillaging... give the Zulu a shot. Impi are a pillaging terror.

You sure you're not talking Civ3 here?
My bad, and my apologies. I must've clicked on the wrong linky-thingy... somewhere...

Gunshy: You could try a scenario like "Hammer of the North" and play one of the Viking tribes. I think your style would work well for that. You can DL lots of scens from this site. If you don't see Hammer with the others, look in the PBEM forum instead (we just finished a game there).

I usually do little pillaging until the end of the game. I just quickly (well quicker than the AI) research everything, then switch to fundementalism. Declare war on everybody and then there is a whole big party (Often, not suprisingly, involving quite a large amount of nuclear weapons)

Several players have been able to win without building a single city.popping huts for a NON "barbarian" army.

You can pillage any terrain improvement. You can also "siege" squares.

When I go for fast conquest,I only build 4>5 cities and nothing but cutting edge units.Maybe a few settlers for "war road" building and a dip or 2 case i come across walls.

Late in the tech tree (GW), one can use partisans -- and a nice feature with them is that they can become NONE units (rehome to city A, raze city A, and the parts remain...think of the possibilities!)
