THE POWER OF RELIGION - The Holy ones
(For those not wishing to read a long post just go to the next post for a shortlist of variants and please join would enjoy playing)
Looking for players that want to experience the power of Religion.
Setting up a SG game that has the following variants.
Must at least acquire two religions and spread the word to all nations whether by boat or foot. The missionaries do what they do best spread religion.
At least two shrines must be built in order to take full advantage of the impact of spreading the word.
The civilizations that join us as brothers and sisters of the faith will be considered our ally and if attacked we must come to their aid. This can be done in the form of negotiation with the attacker to stop the war or declaring war on the attacker. If our brothers and sisters of the faith ask for help we cannot deny them. All civilizations that do not share our faith and do not change even after spreading the word/coaxing must be conquered. If we acquire another shrine through conquest then we too must begin to spread the word. (Except Buddhism/Hinduism) Should any civilization keep it borders closed to keep out our missionaries we must attack within a reasonable amount of time which can be discussed amongst team members as to strategy. When we discover theocracy we must stay there to ensure that other civs do not contaminate our cities with other religions. (Only exception is when we want to add second/third/fourth religion to our cities when a shrine is built and Pacifism or Organized Religion can be only considered during adding religions to our cities.)
Monasteries must be built in all cities and cannot research “Scientific Method” until this is accomplished. This pertains only to our cities and not cities acquired through conquest unless it takes place well before 1000ad.
We must always remain religious throughout the entire game unless forced by UN to Free Religion. If we control UN Free Religion may never be put forth. We must always vote against this and if we gain control seek to undo Free Religion.
Religious wonders must receive priority over any non-religious wonders.
Meaning that if you have a religious wonder in the building list, that must be built or if there are two then you can build the one that you would prefer, however we must build at least 5 Religious wonders. (ones that produce Great Prophet should be prioritized)
What I consider Religious wonders:
Stonehenge, Oracle of Delphi, Angkor Wat, Sistine Chapel, Chichen Itza, Hagia Sofia, Notre Dame and Spiral Minaret.
There is one small catch and might make it tricky however I felt that it may prove to be a challenge. Religions acquired may only be either a philosophical religion such as Taoism/Confucianism or monotheistic such as Christianity/Islam or Judaism. Buddhism/Hinduism may not be acquired through research/spread meaning let the other guys get it first. Should we acquire it through conquest then we may not spread the word of these particular religions.
Just to make it a little interesting. I am not sure of Buddhism is polytheistic in nature however I just thought limiting what kinds of religions we may acquire might make it more interesting.
If a Great Prophet is born and it is a choice of shrine or religion and the religion is of the five we may research then go for the religion. Our GP city must always be set to Great Prophets and cannot be contaminated by any other wonders other then Great Prophet producing wonders. So Sistine chapel, Taj Mahal and Notre Dame are to be built in a culture city and not for producing Prophets. Hagia Sofia can be built in production city if it can be acquired. (Only exception to this rule is National Epic for the GP city to maximize available Prophets. All specialists must be MM’d to ensure all are Priests in GP city only. If max is achieved then specialists may be appointed as needed. Also if other specialist are added to GP city they may never exceed priests or have a result that diminishes acquiring Prophets. If that is the case they appoint citizens or work tiles.)
Once the Great Prophet does not offer religion and no shrines need to be built he can be added to GP city as super specialist. The more the better of course, giving us more production and cash. With Angkor Wat that will make production even better.
Temples of our shrine religions must also be built in all cities. Cathedrals can be built as much as we are allowed given that they are subject to the amount of temples built.
Once we acquire our first religion we cannot use slavery after that since we are religious and have compassion for our citizens. Any civic but slavery may be used.
No other variants.
Map type: Standard, continents
Victory conditions: Cultural, Diplomatic, Conquest, Domination. NO SPACE RACE
Civilization: Aztecs
Permanent Alliance will also be enabled.
Speed: Epic or Marathon
Difficulty: Prince
All other settings standard (version 1.61)
My preference would be the Aztecs since it will take a lot of convincing by the sword when our missionaries are unable to do so. My second choice would be Mali since his financial trait really can runaway with shrine and lots of cities of the shrine religions. I would prefer to play continents and do not like Pangea. I love naval battles and ocean supremacy. I am tempted to play Isabella just once however would prefer to wipe her out in a "religious war". SO CRUSADERS LET US GO ON A QUEST FOR OUR FAITH.
I hope that the variants are understood and any questions I would be happy to answer. This is my first time on SG and welcome new players ergo playing on Prince. I wanted to make it challenging provoking thought and consideration whilst you are playing. Looking forward to players and no pressure as to how fast the turns go just keep it within 48 hours if possible and if unable to play within 48 hours just do a skip and soon as you want to play you will be up.
I also would like to play on Marathon to prolong the game however for those that prefer epic we could put it to a vote.
I think 6 players would be sufficient and once we decide on civ, speed we can make other considerations.
