Huge grats to Ironhead, that's an absolutely phenominal game. I can't even put it into words.

Ironhead's pre-1000AD large and standard Deity space wins both appear to have 3 very early techs from huts. The standard game had 3 by turn 13, the large game had 3 by turn 12 .

In the 775 AD large game, given the choice of Darius, you could not have picked better techs to pop (AH turn 5 and Wheel and Writing on turn 12). Immortals on turn 12 meant massive early conquest. Better yet, add writing on turn 12 for a blast off research...

I thought techs from huts in Deity was rare, what are the odds of 3? And what are the odds those 3 pops result in maybe the best 3 possible techs given the leader? Heck, I would think it would be hard to even find 3 huts in 12 turns??? And to do it in two different games???? Does Buffy have a super-hut setting that I don't know about?

Don't forget, you can't even pop a tech until you have settled.

That is some good luck. I think another lucky break is popping an engineer before it's needed for Mining Inc. That beautiful start--with early techs--could have been wasted if no engineer was born. I wonder what the odds were on that. It's gotta suck to hold your breath for 300 turns gambling on the RNG.

Come to think of it, wouldn't two tech pops on turn 12 require 2 huts side-by-side? How else can the scout reach them both on one turn? Not sure I've ever seen side-by-side huts before.

I haven't looked at this particular (very impressive!) game, but You can get two huts in one turn or consecutive turns even with one unit and a city. This happens when you send a unit away from your city, and you pick up one hut with the unit and the other by expanding cultural borders of the city. I don't have CIV handy right now, but this theory would hold up if turn 12 was the proper/expected number of turns after the founding of the capitol to get the first border pop.
