I would like like to acknowledge Kovacslo, the huge, RB, deity specialist, who has reclaimed the current title of HoF Quattromaster. He has reclaimed the title from WastinTime, who has reigned since March 28, 2008, when he displaced Kovacslo in a thunderous fashion!

Nice Job:goodjob:

But... I suspect that if WastinTime is interested in taking back the title... you are dead meat Kovacs!

Congrats kovacsflo! I've been watching you tiptoe up behind me for a long time. I figured you finally put the nail in the coffin when you mentioned your raging huge space was going to knock out my epic/huge game.

@shulec: Thx for the history. I didn't realize I held that for over 5 years. (or that my screen name would be so appropriate.) I rolled back the HoF to that month and I can see the birth of Religious Victory. That must've been how I finally completed League of Nations. The reason for my 'thunderous' entry (good adjective) was that I sat in the 2nd tier of "1 event away from" QM, but with a high overall score already built up. I've spread myself over all victory conditions, maps, leaders, etc. somewhat organically and didn't target QM score with many specific raging/huge games.

So kovacsflo should wear that crown:king:. I don't plan to retake it ... (any time soon :mischief:) I learned another new trick, and I plan to re-take the high score with 6 -7 million. IIRC, kovacsflo held that crown once too.

That is a one important day in my life as I spent countless hours to get this title, and I have so many plans what to do now having more time to spent on more useful things. I am a bit surprised that you don't want to retake it and it seems this title isn't really important for you. Yet, since the difference is very slight, you still could retake it even if you don't want :) Except if I submit some more games...

Congratulations, kovacsflo, on achieving the #1 Civ IV HoF Quartermasters position, especially in taking it from WastinTime, who can be a very determined adversary in HoF competitions when he wants to and has the time for it.

We have all seen you tackle and take Deity #1 Huge map HoF slots. Those are in most cases the very hardest to take. You deserve much praise in accomplishing your goal. I hope you are able to retain your title, at least for a very long time.

Again, my sincere (heart-felt) congratulations!

Thank you very much, it was a very tough job and for very long it seemed hopeless, but so good that I finally reached...

Yes, the deity huge map slots were the neck of the battle in this job, it helped me a lot - especially in the cases when I took these slots away from Wastintime :) BTW, if you look the QM components, Wastintime still has 130 points in League of Nations, while mine is only 104. It was always obvious that I won't ever be able to neutralise this huge difference, so I needed to focus on the other components as I did. Apart from deity huge slots, playing in easier difficulties were important as well in boosting my Inferno points in which I have 116 points while Wastintime has 99.

Just to mention: finally I could reach this goal without needing to finish my time victory game - oh, come on men, it is bloody boring, after a couple of turns I always give up.

Thank you, Shulec, don't you know that have someone else ever had this title before Wastintime? How can we check this?

Just use the date drop down menu in the top center of the page. :) It goes back as far as Dec. 25, 2005 when it all started with no entries.

I see, Miraculix was to first one to achive full quattromaster title on 10/10/2006:

But by the next submission he has lost it to Bostich:

Also Hawk used to be the first one for one year actually:

http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/quattromasters.php?show=overall&dsply=1&pubID=24&submit=Go

And Wastintime started to reign on the November 11th 2007 (when I was nowhere with my 10th result of 77 QM points...):

It is good to see these historical lists, so many years have passed away... Sometimes I wish I knew more about Wastintime as I spent so much time on getting his crown without knowing him.

Yes, it is often fun to travel back in time to see what the HoF looked like, including QM and EQM.

We are very lucky that the date drop down menu exists and functions as expected.

@kovacsflo, You're history (while interesting) is not BtS. In that case, I still reign and you are in 6th place...but who cares about vanilla? I expected you to explore the history of "All expansions" QM. Where you now reign supreme and where it matters most.

Thx for pointing that out to me Kai. I always thought that I had extremely bad luck with my maps or that I was doing something wrong, because I really have to fight hard for those victories.

The game I submitted this update was really funny however, and maybe not as hard as you imagine, because I played a classical start for Rock of Ages. Sun Tzu Wu already mentioned some days ago, that AI is vulnerable to these kinds of start, as one can assure to have the fitting strategic ressource, and simply spam them to death.

In this case, it was even more absurd though, because I played an idiotic Boreal map (Plains + Tundra map covered completely by Forrests) and took Montetzuma as a leader. Stole some Workers with the initial Archers from 2 Civs (!) , rexed to 3 cities "while being in war" (lol) , build the Mids on top (...) and harrassed the AIs with WM2 Swords from Barracks afterwards :D .

Hope I'll find the time sometime to record a commentary to the Video I made of that round.

Submitted a Standard / Normal 1490 AD Domination Victory in the meantime, maybe you and others could tell me which video they'd like to see first, the crazy and stupid Boreal win (I'd call it "Replay #7: Work-Chop" , I'm open for better wordplays) or the exhausting and almost unwinnable Standard / Normal Domination 1490 AD Domination Victory from 3 cities, of which the Capital only had 1 Gold and the 3rd city didn't even have food but plains only  .

Personally I'd publish the Standard / Normal first, because it can somehow be regarded as a standard-reference game for maps with Ivory. I'm sure people would have more fun watching the Boreal game, but the settings somehow are too uncommon to make it my 1st Video.

Btw., you all have to visit the Civ Illustrated usergroup from time to time again, otherwise I'll beat you :trouble: .

I agree with Kaitzilla. Great job pulling off a Deity Domination on Large which is really hard to do.

Congratulations, Seraiel!

I've been wanting to play Montezuma on Boreal. Sounds like great fun, especially with non-Ancient Era.
