Hold the Save (t46)

I recommend we hold the save for as long as we can this turn, as we expect a reply from Cavaleiros on a Non-Aggression Treaty within the day. The previous turn was played a bit prematurely, only one hour later than the team ahead of us, which was mentioned in the negotiations with their "ambassador". This must not happen again this turn, it has to go at least 20 hours.

I therefore request all players to not play the save, until we get a reply from Cavaleiros, and then let Kaleb handle the save.

I've already logged in and made unit moves, nothing to report.

We've not ended turn yet.

Btw someone changed our tech choice to mysticism. Who did this and why? We're trying to hide the fact we are researching myst remember?

Oyzar was complaining that I ended turn quickly and said that we obviously weren't capable making 'timely decisions'. And now they are complaining they need more time? How ironic.

Our turn was not done prematurely, we knew what we wanted and didn't need to wait. Once team cav asked us nicely to slow down we did so.

Oyzar also delayed the whole process by refusing to provide an email to communicate with, so if he's blaming us for creating time pressure that's a little rich.

I changed it to mysticism for the sake of housekeeping. No one can assess the demographics and assess our chosen research route when its our turn. I also pinned in T46 location of workboat, that was all i did.

For oyzar, he is hopeless. Hopefully they will not sail through. If they do, we can provide some less "cavalier" commercials about Cavaleiros to their next port of call.

Ok, I could be wrong about this, but you can login at any time to see the demographics screen and as soon as we change our tech choice it changes our GNP total. Just a minor thing but there are obviously people paying much closer attention to the demog screen than us... >_>

If this is the case, I will do some demographics testing. We really want to ruin their intelligence capabilities. I am really happy I did not reply to any of oyzars "phishing" attempts, and we did not agree to their intimate technology proposal.

What we got out of oyzar is their preference for monarchy, as well as a motivation to put us out of the technology race by pushing us over into writing to steal religion from us.

Testing research goal impact on demographics GDP:

Writing: 32 million 5 turns (GDP Rank #1)
Mysticism: 25 million 3 turns (GDP Rank #5)
Sailing : 28 million 6 turns (GDP Rank #3)
Archery: 28 million 3 turns
Masonry: 28 million 5 turns
Horseback R: 28 million 15 turns
Iron Working: 28 million 12 turns
Metal Casting: 28 million 28 turns

The result is quite clear. GDP is directly related to who has been given a technology first of the neighbors. The Mysticism tells us that Cavaleiros got it, whereas Writing (which he thought we were researching due to our unfortunate mistake) confused their demographics experts. This means we got Mysticism cheaper than we would normally do, as Cavaleiros already got it with 25 M GDP. Writing comes out as 32 M GDP, because that would be a technology that is way ahead of them, or anyone of the civilizations. This suggests that no one is researching the religious technologies.

We should research mysticism as planned, then we need to do some serious intelligence on demographics and so on, and max out the gold production (will be easy with our new mine) until we secured either buddhism or hinduism.

I would recommend a placeholder tech showing 28 turns, as that will confuse them, as they need to consider more options.

I am placing "Archery" as a middleground placeholder, remember to get it to mysticism, Kaleb, when you play your turn. It has the same GDP number as "Sailing", so they may think we are preparing a galley to chase them off.

We should consult Cavaleiros after we get mysticism (If we got good relations with them) if they are heading for poly or medi.

That's useful to make note of, we should do so on a regular basis.

We might be best off having some of this discussion in the general intel thread.

I'm not sure that's how the tech scores work. According to the demog reference:

The research bonus is what you get from knowing the prerequisite and other nations you have met who know the tech you are researching, so your GNP can increase by your neighbour discovering the tech you’re currently researching.

And about this:

If we keep it on writing they'll think we are still going towards their suggested Writing>Alphabet route

We should consult Cavaleiros after we get mysticism (If we got good relations with them) if they are heading for poly or medi.
We should only tell them we have myst once we've got it and arrange to go for different religious techs. If we also spread our religions to each other we'll both get more gold.

Btw, Team Cav have had someone log in since you made the last change so they may have noticed the drop in GNP already.

still no word from them...

If they asked for more time, that could be to devise a blockade run-through, analyze if we were having sailing (hence galley) or not. Maybe they sent Oyzar to chat with us as a stalling tactic. His signature is "King of Ambiguity", which is quite telling.

I am leaning to consider a defensive infrastructure around Darya River, just in case, the relations sour, which includes building cities on those riverine hills (east of river). This would be a welcome bonus in defending our heartland.

We definitively need to get sailing and some galleys to protect the western coast, as we know their capital is some 36 tiles sailing from us (18 turns).

Provo, what's the latest you could be available to finish our turn?

And Cav, what about you?

The latest for me would be 07:30 GMT tomorrow as I need to go to work!

Kaleb, we got the same time work commitments (London location), so I suggest you handle this, that will be a signal of unity and discipline if you took this particular turn. and DO NOT FORGET TO SWITCH TO MYSTICISM.

If I am the last person who will be able to end the turn we should inform team Cav they have only 10 hours left before we finish the turn.

Please do so Kaleb, try to send this as a PM to their 4-5 main players to be safe, even Oyzar.

Yeah the latest I could play would be around 0800 GMT... We should end it before that though. Team Cav wants to drag this out to see if we will blink. They want our resolve to weaken so they can achieve their aim- to transit our territory without suffering diplomatic consequences.

This is why I wanted them to see the GNP demographics for 28 M, in order for them to consider we may indeed have sailing and galley up the sleeve.

They have replied
