I tried this strategy after seeing you suggest it and it worked great. Granted everything that could go right, did in this game. Started desert, next to a mountain and on a river with a ton (4 within 3 tiles) of salt. I had 2 cities out of 3 with an observatory. I had desert folklore, tithe, divine inspiration, pagodas, Messiah as you suggested, and to the glory of God. I launched turn 207 (quick game speed, year 1876). That's one of my quickest ever (if not the quickest) but I still left a lot of turns out there. I never finished Oxford and I could have faith purchased at least one more GS. Since I was just experimenting, I did this on Warlord even though I'm good enough to normally play King and RAs are almost useless on Warlord cause the AI sucks so much. I launched just 2 turns after completing apollo because of all the great people I purchased in the last 10 turns (1 GE, 1 GW, 1 GMer, 1 GP, 1 GS). This is a great strat
