I am really worried about the upswing in the amount of highly misogynistic threads.

I realize that some people posting in them are joking around, and looking for a good laugh. I love sarcasm, and I love a good laugh as much as the next guy.

That doesn't worry me. What worries me are the few posters who I know are taking these things seriously to heart. I do not want to name names, but people who believe that there are "feminine conspiracies" against him, or that it is okay to take advantage of highly inebriated girl, etc... Posters who I know have yet to discover the eloquence of sarcasm and therefore I know are fully serious are the ones who worry me.

Let's tone it down guys. Keep it classy.

I agree. Women aren't commodities to be won.

I agree. Very much. And I suggest the use of the [plain][MANDATORY E-SARCASM TAG][/plain]. Not only does it clear up whether you're being sarcastic, it's funny in itself.

And lost - ironically, most often by those thinking they can win them. ;)

What would you call it then? Gotten?

You have to win them over, use whatever word you want.

I'm afraid this really is a case-by-case basis.

I mean, should we go after all the pictures in the funny picture thread where a car is in a funny place with the legend "woman driver"?
Should we close Ram's thread, "the rules of being a man"?
Should we ban religious opinions that hold woman's greatest role is that of the household keeper?

I know I've been shocked at some really misogynist comments here, but on the whole I do not think it is that bad.

Or are the men won over by the women?

Seriously, Goonie is right. There have been so many threads which are like that give off intense signals of social ineptitude and a complete misunderstanding of the dating process.

User with girl problems should stop making threads with titles like this: "Why won't girls date me! I hate them! I want to punch them in the ovaries. I'm so lonely... so very lonely :( " and more threads like “How can I overcome my social awkwardness, misunderstanding of women, and smell so I don’t die alone in an abandon apartment eating expired frito chips?”

If your having bad luck with girls maybe you have a problem that needs to be fixed?

I dont think your in control of who gets to start what kind of threads. And even if you have a problem with it you have voiced this opinion many times.

Some people that have "won" or "gotten" may not think they've won all that much  I think my wife would say she was sentenced.

To say nothing of the fact that this forum has a cross-section of males (and yes 10% women, right) in age from 15 (horny and desperate) to 45 (married and relaxed) and the misogyny largely confines itself to the lower end of the age scale and hopefully pretty much everyone realizes that.

Well the sad part is the age range is more in the late teens (18 and 19) to early 20s if a recent poll of active users is to be trusted.

Yay. And frankly I would be shocked if 15-year-olds were dating and relaxed.

It seems the internet is one of the few places left where the people with less than popular stances can spout off. I think what Goonie is saying is that even though we're anonymous and anyone can have any opinion, we (in general) don't want to tolerate the ignorance.

With time all manner of opinions have made the painful change from common to unacceptable. As they become unacceptable they become funnier because of the shock value. It's important to be clear what is comedy though, since those with genuine hateful opinions are usually not very socially skilled.

Our thoughts are impacted by the language we use, more than we realize.

Not really. I'm not dating now, but that doesn't mean I'm not making progress in any of my relationships with girls. And I'm certainly not desperate.

I never said I was a chick magnet, and it doesn't take one to date.
