Margaret Sanger.

Rashiminos also brought up eugenics before me (post #210)
I was going to ask for you to link cardgame's Godwin post you were referencing but I see you edited it to Rashiminos... However, you'll notice that I already discussed that post as well in the same post where I mentioned aelf's post. I suspected (and Rashiminos has confirmed) that he wasn't making a Godwin comparison. He was talking about modern-day homophobic people who are homophobic for eugenics reasons... And your post is before, aelf's...

So we are back to you. Do you believe that Margaret Sanger invented eugenics, yes or no? If you do (or did when you posted #211) then you certainly can't be accused of a Godwin for that post... But... then you are clearly wrong and grossly misinformed on the subject. Also, your whole argument against liberals through the socialism comparisons fails... essentially the entire argument you have been making for the past 4 pages collapses because you based it on the erroneous belief that Margaret Sanger invented eugenics.

On the other hand, if you just lied about thinking Margaret Sanger invented eugenics to get out of the Godwin thing, then your overall argument might be salvageable (you should try to clarify the basis of your argument in that case) but... you're back on the Godwin podium.

Nope my post about eugenics is a reply to his after he first mentioned it.

I already answered your question on the last page.

She certainly galvanized the study and movement of it. She was the founder of Planned Parenthood and one of the world's most well known eugenicists. Hitler based the Nazi eugenics program off of her work.
Ah... just noticed this clarification... So you were talking about this... I thought so.

So yeah, you definitely get the Godwin award.

I did not bring up the topic.

Why do you care so much who brought it up anyway? It seems quite childish to me.

It's not about "bringing up the topic"... It's about being the first one to make the comparison. You were the first to compare someone to them, by your own admission. You just admitted that you had them in mind when you brought up Margaret Sanger you said she inspired their eugenics program. That's what you were talking about when you said "left-wing creation." You were making a comparison to liberals by saying liberals inspired their eugenics program.

So yes, again, you get the Godwin.

If you really care so much this was the conversation (page #11).

Rashiminos invoked eugenics here:

If that's the case a) Why not? Is your position not worth defending?, and b) Why are you in this thread then?

If you took your statement of imposing on other people's wills seriously, you'd find some religions loathsome as well. Not all religions impose. ;)
I don't believe that though. I'm aware some people object to homosexuality because they subscribe to eugenicism.

Eugenics. Another interesting left wing creation. You guys really are imploding on yourselves.

Rashiminos invoked the holocaust here:

It's like scientific racism in the early 20th century culminating in the Holocaust... never happened. Is that the sort of revisionism you prefer to believe (or that you're having trouble figuring left from right)?

Aelf invoked Nazis here:

His strategy seems to be to blame any bad thing on the left.

Islamic extremism? The left created it. Nazism? Left-wing. The Iraq War fiasco? The left's doing. The Inquisition? Totally leftist. Hurricane Katrina? The left caused it.

The evil left is gonna get you... right before, or after, they implode :run:

Last I checked Nazi was an acronym for National Socialist and Margaret Sanger was left wing and supported Hitler and also the KKK in the South, which was part of the Democratic party. Also left wing.

The revisionism isn't mine. Seems like you have a tough time making a lot of distinctions.

Thanks for proving my point. You were the first one to make a Godwin comparison. Not Rashiminos and certainly not aelf. .. aelf's post doesnt make any comparison at all and Rashiminos was linking modern day homophobia to modern day eugenicist- ideology.

You were the only one who made the Godwin comparison.

How so? I neither brought up eugenics or Nazis, clearly.

I also did not compare anyone to a Nazi.

If you really care so much this was the conversation (page #11).

The forum default for posts per page is 20. That actual number displayed is user-configurable, so page 11 for you is not necessarily page 11 for someone else, and quotes generated by the quote button generate a link to the post in question (the arrow pointing to the right within the quote :mischief:). Just a little style criticism... nothing Jungian to worry about.

Again, its not about "bringing it up" its about the comparison. Are you now denying that you made any comparisons? You just said that Margaret Sanger was a left wing creator of eugenics and the inspiration for their eugenics program. That's not just making a comparison. It's drawing a direct connection.

So, where is the comparison to a Nazi there?

Margaret Sanger's work did inspire Hitler and the Nazi eugenics program. That's a verifiable fact.

I dont undestand your question...

There is the connection... right there in bold. What is your question then? It's clear as crystal, and you have made it clear over and over. You are the one who Godwin'd the thread.

You're claiming I compared someone to a Nazi, well where is that comparison?

So what?

Someone mentioned the holocaust, another person mentioned Nazis. I made a comment about the topic of conversation.
