Homosexuals: What exactly is it you find attractive in the same sex?

Pretty straight-forward question.

To state it simply:

Heterosexual men are mostly attracted to good-looking women.
Heterosexual women are mostly attracted to high-status men.

One can of course expand on what good-looking and high-status means, but it is quite self-evident, so I'll drop it for now.

But what is it homosexuals are attracted to? The same as heterosexuals, i.e. homosexual women are attracted to good-looking women, and homosexual men to high-status men? Or is it reversed? Or something else?

I know we have a few homosexuals who I hope will answer here, but of course, anyone else who knows or have some theories, feel free to join in as well.

That's a pretty sexist analysis...

It is....but damned if it isn't true.

I'm attracted to ass, legs, and hips first then tits. Face just has to not be a total disaster and I'm good. In other words....a damned fine woman.

A girl can be the most awesome person personality wise but if she doesn't fit my requirements physically she will never have a shot with me. Ever.

So ass first then?

[/Freud]

Well I'm sure Freud would have something to say about that.

I like a pretty face on a woman, I do like looking at the mantelpiece whilst stoking the fire.

I think the OP's analysis is more than slightly reductionist.

It's really a very difficult question to answer.

I agree with this
I don't care if it doesn't fit into what people would like. It is reality.

Pretty much.

And ass like a ghetto booty.
I just have to ask: Are you African-descendant?

The OP doesn't go into any details, but by and large, it is correct. What is attractive for heterosexual men and women is very well understood.

For homosexuals I still have no idea. I know a self-evaluation of what one actually finds attractive is difficult for some, as their ideals sometimes conflict with their own bodies. But I would still like to hear if you - or anyone else - can give me some idea at least. :)

I'm personally attracted to high success women. What am I, chopped liver?!

Okay here's what I like in men. Sorry if this is a bit unstructured, I'm just writing this as it occurs to me.

They have to be quite good-looking, and they have to look after themselves. Good hygeine, good diet, keeps fit, maybe moisturise too. They have to be about the same height as me, within a couple of inches or so. I usually prefer brown hair, but blonde works too. I don't like too much muscle, but obviously a little bit is good. They can't be too camp, but they have to be at peace with themselves. Obviously no denial or self-hate. Straight-acting, in the lingo. We need to have some similar interests and a similar sense of humour. They have to faithful, and they have to be into me. Finally, I want no less than 6 inches :mischief:

Make of that what you will.

I don't disagree with you, I think in broad terms you're right. Just could use a bit more detail that's all :p. It's not like looks and status are the only variables involved.

Right. :crazyeye:

I'm not gonna go to high up in age here to make it ridiculous, but are you trying to tell me you find the first group of women more attractive than the second group?

Group 1: Abigail Johnson (45), Susanne Klatten (43) and Yang Huiyan (29), the 4th, 8th and 9th richest women in the world. Incidentally, they all inherited their wealth from their fathers, so maybe you won't consider them successful.
Spoiler :

Abigail Johnson ($11.5 billion net worth)

Susanne Klatten ($9.6 billion net worth)

Yang Huiyan ($3.9 billion net worth)

Group 2: Brooklyn Decker (23), Megan Fox (24), Rihanna (22), considered among the hottest well-known women today. And I haven't even used pictures showing their bodies, but only their faces.
Spoiler :

Brooklyn Decker

Megan Fox

Rihanna

Did I say I don't believe you? I really don't. :p
The same stuff hetero people find attractive but only in their same sex?
That is one possible theory. It's what I'm trying to find out.

Right. :crazyeye:

Well personally I prefer both attractive and successful. :D That way I'd have a hot wife and be set for life!

Not really.
Yes, really.

Well, no. That's why I wrote 'mostly' in the OP. Looks do matter to women too, but it is far from as important. Personality is of course important to both sexes, but that has more to do with liking or disliking, and not so much about initial attraction.

I feel a bit mean to boil everything you wrote down to just so little, but basically: You're attracted to men who are good looking and healthy (both in mind and body).

If I can, I have some more questions if you care to answer them. What do you think about a potential mate's (for either/both long-term or short-term relationships):
1. Education and job
2. Wealth
3. Height (sorry, this is actually asking how tall you are)
4. Age
5. Baldness (you mentioned hair colours, but what if there is no hair?)
6. Size and type of social circle
7. Body hair
If you feel some questions are too personal or stupid, feel free to ignore some or all of them. :)

I couldn't help noticing that you didn't answer my question. ;)

Well yeah I guess you could cut it down to that but I thought I'd give you some specifics.

Ah good questions there, reminded me of a few things.

1. Intelligence is an obvious one that I forgot. They have to be inteligent, and usually this means fairly well educated. I prefer them to be similar in inteligence to me, if they are much less then conversationally we might struggle and if they are much more then they can come across as too patronising/superior.

2. Wealth isn't something I consider. Obviously its nice if they have a little bit of cash, and I wouldn't want to have to support them all the time, so so long as they're not broke it's no issue.

3. I'm 6ft2, so between maybe 5ft9 and 6ft4? Just for logistical reasons more then anything else .

4. I'm 18, and I'd go for anything between the age of 17 and 26.

5. Ahaa. No I like hair. Baldness is a no no, although I'm sure I will become more accepting of it as I get older. They also have to have a fashionable/nice hairstyle, and it can't be longer then shoulder length at the most.

6. They should be fairly sociable yeah. I don't go for guys that are total recluses.

7. I prefer fairly little body hair. Don't like chest hair or facial hair.
