Host Ping: Unknown (Connection issue)

Ever since I've gotten Civilization IV, I've been unable to play online games due the majority of them being listed as having an unknown ping, which seems to make it impossible to connect. I tried forwarding the required ports on my router and adding exemptions to my firewall for them, but it did not help. Any tips? I also found a few six year old threads with the same issue at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=256538 and http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=202270 which did not give the solution, and I'd like to hope that in these last six years, somebody has figured out how to fix the problem. I would PM those who posted the old threads (as they appear to still be active users) to see if they ever found a solution that they may still possess but as a new member I am currently unable to PM. If somebody else could do that for me, it would be greatly appreciated

I also have this problem on my mobile connection. It works fine on my landline. Other games work fine on my mobile connection, so I haven't been able to solve the problem.

It's a bit discouraging to see this issue still remains after several years. I am also getting OOS errors when playing network games still. I wish they'd patch the game and fix it!
