How 2 mod cottage/hamlet/village growth

Does anybody know how the growth rate of cottages can be changed?

I'd like to do a similar thing to lumbermills, that may turn into turning shops or factories over time.
 
griffin71, this change can be made in CIV4ImprovementInfos.xml. For each improvement, there the field <UpgradeTime>. This is how many turns it takes for that improvement to grow. Then there is <ImprovementUpgrade> which selects what improvement it grows into.
 
Yes, thank you. The cottages to towns thing alone is worth the price of admission to Civ4. Definitely using this in Solaria.
