A few people who said in the pot smokers thread that they would never smoke pot, mentioned that they DO like to drink. To all of you who enjoy drinking: would you continue drinking if alchohol was made illegal where you live, but you still had easy access to it through friends or the black market, in the same way pot is readily available now even though its illegal?

edit: I've tried to tidy it up a little. col.

I would think Al Capone tought them a thing or two about prohibition ;)

Directly or indirectly, alcohol is responsible for more than 50% of everything that is wrong with society, IMO.

Having said that, I don't give a toss about laws and would drink regardless :D

Certainly not. Orders must be obeyed under all circumstances, despite the temptation of gangsters that all they are saying is give booze a chance.

Ban vodka in Russia, beer in Germany or wine in France and you will have an armed rebellion on your hands ;)

It's good to not drink :D

Probably. I mean, unless the prices went up a lot.

I don't drink anyway, but I certainly would care if it was made illegal. I voted for option number three as it was the closest to me.

if it did become illegal i would respect the law but it would also mean that i would have to go to the neigbouring country a lot

 The other active French on the forum does not drink? So I am alone to defend our multi-millenary tradition of wine drinking? :(

On topic: While I believe in respecting laws, there are limits to what is acceptable! Aux armes, citoyens! Formez vos bataillons! Qu'un sang impur abreuve nos sillons...

:soldier: :soldier: :soldier:

And what would you do about it, Jacques? Hire a Chacal?:p ;)

I'd definatly continue drinking. We Irish have a tradition of ignoring laws we don't like.

I find it boring. As far as lowering inhibitions and making people more readily sociable, I think the drug is damaging because it merely puts off any soberly acheived way of building one's sociability. As far as enhancing fun when using in intoxicating amounts, I believe as I have said that marijuana is safer and less irritating to me personally. I have yet to see any potential for this drug in the arena of 'mysticism'.

It's not posibile for me even to imagine that hapened in my country. It would never work, simply every house at village here have there own instrument for making first class hand made "slivovitza", and this is primarly village country. So...
