I'm 1 and 2 half games into the barve new world of CiV, and am starting to get the feel of the differences although I'm not sure I like them all. Here are some of the most notable. - The AI brings it now, so prepare to be at war. I had heard that you should drop down a level when moving to the latest patch, and I can see why. Verdic: - New policy tree. There are interesting changes here, and I like the 'finisher bonus' concept, but.....I find that I'm always choosing the same policies in more or less the same order. You pretty much must have the Rationalism opener, which means Piety is only an option for culture games. Consequently, there are a lack of incentives to vary from Liberty/Ratioanism heavy games so the policy aspect of the game now feels a bit samey. Verdict: meh - New RA system. I like that blocking has gone. Instead, there is incentive to research the cheap techs rather than beeline constantly, which feels more natural. However, it seems you must have the PT and/or Rationalism opener to make use of RAs. This means every game is more or less a rush to Education, which again makes the game feel a bit samey. Also, the optimum way to play a science game is still to stock up on GSs and mass bulb through the modern area, meaning you esentially don't play the late game. This is a bit silly and not all that satisfying. Verdict: research is improved, but its still a bit hokey and needs more tweaking. So Mac'ers, what are your feelings on the new patch that we have waited so long for?
