How big is immigration an issue on people's minds (USA and elsewhere)?

What evidence do you have that anyone actually paid attention to this beyond the archtypical 15 minutes?

What? Are you okay there?

People whine about leftists supposedly overusing the term fascist, all the while screaming purity testing 24/7. The irony.

The Culture War exists as a distraction because the right knows they lose on economics.

The winning move is to not fight the culture war. Ignore what theyre saying and focus on other stuff.
They're going to say whatever regardless. You cant stop them.

Theyre basically trolling at the political level. Looking for reactions and making people bite.

The other winning move is let them govern They're incapable of it. A lot of people will get hurt. Its a shallow win though as they're not voting for you and against them. The electorate has a short memory.

People whine about leftists supposedly overusing the term fascist,
“It will be seen that, as used, the word ‘Fascism’ is almost entirely meaningless. In conversation, of course, it is used even more wildly than in print. I have heard it applied to farmers, shopkeepers, Social Credit, corporal punishment, fox-hunting, bull-fighting, the 1922 Committee, the 1941 Committee, Kipling, Gandhi, Chiang Kai-Shek, homosexuality, Priestley's broadcasts, Youth Hostels, astrology, women, dogs and I do not know what else.” - George Orwell, “What is Fascism” Tribune 1944

To be frank. Your lot do overdue the term quite extensively that it’s rendered to a meaningless insult and a synonym for bully. Yes Trump is acting like a bully, but I don’t ascribe him as a follower of Benito Mussolini and Giovanni Gentile.

If you think the right wing is off the hook, they’re guilty of it’s overuse as well.

I don’t know if you’ve payed attention. The left does have a problem with purity spirals. Two noteable figures on the were victims of said purity spiral: Lindsay Ellis and Contrapoints.

As I would allude earlier in my post, the right wing is not off the hook as well since they too are engaging in purity spirals as well after they’ve became emboldened since Trump was reelected. (See the MAGA Civil War as one example)

This is possibly the only segment of the post I have issues with. The goal, when they’re in charge, is to minimize the harm inflicted by the far right wing. Not use them as political fodder as sacrifice.

Wel its more not throwing people under the bus just focus on something else. Win election rush unpopular stuff through early (that doesn't really hurt anyone unlike Trump rushing his stuff).

Ask for forgiveness next election. Electorate has short memory.

Term racists ive seen the actual far left (think communists types) use it vs democratic socialist types. Throw in its over use vs anyone you don't like its essentially meaningless now.

Immigration falls into unpopular social stuff. Is the message wrong or the messaging?

The left (wherever you draw the line) needs to get a picture of Trump and hang it up with the following caption.

"We lost to this guy".

If your social policy was popular people would not flock to Trump. He told full of lies and bull crap. But truth doesnt matter. Congratulations you're right have fun losing.

Only now the "out of touch liberal coastal types" stereotypes seem to be figuring out how bad things can get. Electing a blue rock in 2016 and having it achieve literally nothing is an improvement over what we got.

I figured it out age 12 when the government deliberately wants to kick you in the balls. That was 1990.

"We lost to this guy". And lost the popular vote.

Nice quote, I guess? Orwell ends the article by admitting he can't actually define fascism. This is understandable to an extent with the historical hindsight he lacked in 1944 amidst WW2, but how can you certify is a claim of fascism is valid or invalid if you can't actually reach a conclusion as to it's definition?

Fascism is widely understood as a form of authoritarianism and nationalism, if you don't believe Trump ticks those boxes, I have no idea what to say to you.

In other words, twitter drama that has no bearing on IRL politics.
