I just took stock of my entire music collection and I have 276 hours of music (that's 3,794 songs) and counting. I'm curious how that compares to other peoples collections; whether it's bigger or smaller in comparison.

I compiled a list of every artist I have at least one complete album of. I will admit that some of these were downloaded, but a pretty good number I bought or inherited.
Some of these may be embarassing guilty pleasures, or stuff I've kind of grown out of.

Alice in Chains, Animal Collective, Arcade Fire, Audioslave,
The Beatles, Beck, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Buckethead, Jeff Buckley,
Cheap Trick, Cream, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Cure,
Daft Punk, Danzig, The Darkness, Death from Above 1979, The Decemberists, Deftones,
Dethklok, Devastatin' Dave the Turntable Slave, Dio, Dirty Projectors, Dr. Dre, Dredg,
Explosions in the Sky,
Faith No More, The Flaming Lips, Flight of the Concords, Ben Folds, Foo Fighters,
Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Grizzly Bear, Guns N' Roses,
Jimi Hendrix,
Billy Idol, Incubus, Interpol, Iron Maiden,
Michael Jackson, Jane's Addiction, Jay-Z, Journey, Joy Division,
The Killers, King Crimson, Kings of Leon, Klaxons, Kyuss,
Led Zeppelin, John Lennon, Local H, The Lonely Island,
The Mars Volta, Mastodon, Megadeth, Melvins, Meshuggah, Metallica, Mew,
The Minibosses, Modest Mouse, Mr Bungle, Muse, My Morning Jacket,
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, No Doubt,
Oasis, Of Montreal, Outkast,
Pantera, Pearl Jam, A Perfect Circle, Pink Floyd, Pixies, Placebo, The Police, Porcupine Tree,
Portugal. The Man, Primus,
Queen, Queens of the Stone Age,
Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rush,
Joe Satriani, The Shaggs, William Shatner, Sigur Rós, Slayer, The Smashing Pumpkins,The Smiths, Snoop Dogg, Soundgarden, Spın̈al Tap, Sufjan Stevens, Stone Temple Pilots, The Strokes, System of a Down,
Team Teamwork, Temple of the Dog, Tenacious D, Them Crooked Vultures, Tool,
TV on the Radio,
Vampire Weekend, Van Halen,
Andrew W.K., Weezer, Wesley Willis, Kanye West, The Who, Wilco, Wu-Tang Clan,
Thom Yorke, Neil Young,
Frank Zappa.

I also have a good number of just single songs from many other artists that I didn't include, as well as some "classical" music (Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Dvorak, Mozart), and a few soundtracks.
I hope this thread doesn't turn into people saying how terrible my tastes in music are.
I just wan't to see how my entire collection compares to other people.

22138 songs, 108.55GB, ~1550 hours.

Although I've probably only listened to about 10% of it. Almost all of it has been given to me by my music mad uncle.

Edit: BTW, that's 2076 artists.

I still have Albums. Also a few 8-track tapes, cassette tapes and CD's. Hundreds and Hundreds.

But like Agent K in Men in Black, I keep having to re-purchase The White Album.

Tha's too bad (not about Therapy?, obviously).

Same here - except for the 8 track bit. I once tried to get rid of my albums, but the retailer/2nd hand dealer told me he was more interested in CDs (he's still swamped in albums as well). I've absolutely no idea how many hours of music I have, sorry.

According to iTunes I have 4417 items, lasting 13.2 days and occupying 22.41 GB. Which is quite a lot given that I don't really like music all that much.

However, some of that is miscategorised podcasts and old radio shows. But on the other hand, I also have a lot of music that I have never put onto iTunes, mainly less good blues CDs (I have better uses for my megabytes than filling them with all of Big Joe Williams).

It's pretty eclectic but there's more blues than anything else.

I don't think I even have 1000 songs. Anyway, I do delete songs to save disk space.

I once decided to listen to at least one song from every artist, and proceeded to go about doing so in alphabetical order. But I gave up at Nouvelle Vague, which was after about 90 hours. :(

90 hours of music i listen to regularly.

330 hours total.

I have very few full albums. There are VERY rare occasions when i actually like a whole album. Of these bands i kept at least one of their albums entirely.

Arctic Monkeys
Black Sabbath
David Bowie
Iggy Pop
Joy Division
Neil Young
Oasis
Pink Floyd
Television
The Chameleons
The Last Shadow Puppets
White Lies

216 hours across 3096 songs and 18 gigs on my regular playlist. That is, apparently, 104 artists (not including those on compilations) across 319 albums (and 31 genres, cos I'm kind of a dork about that). There's some more stuff kicking around in compilations (mostly cover discs from magazines) and some folk stuff in it's own playlist.

2046 songs, 6 days, 10.04 GB according to iTunes.

All of this I own on cd too. I don't download music.

I'm old enough to not have everything on hard drive.

In itunes:
