How can I stop the cat from peeing on the carpet?

Rub its nose in it?

Looks like a no-brainer.

The litterbox got changed overnight, so he's confused about, possibly annoyed with, the local toilet facilities.

Changing back to the old litter should be the simplest solution. Someone suggested changing the litter by gradual substitution. That should work. As long as it's the same spot and smells like his toilet, he'll most likely be happy with it.

As for the mess he's made, that needs careful cleaning. If it's allowed to continue smelling like the toilet, it's likely he will continue using the spot.

Cats hate sticky surfaces, just make your carpet sticky and wear shoes.

So smear your carpets with honey and wear non-stick shoes. Then get somebody in to deal with the ants, bees, wasps, cockroaches,....and bears. Right!:goodjob:

Replace the carpet is the best bet. Cat won't know if he's allowed to piss on the new carpet or not, and if he does, grab him and smack him hard on the nose. Continue to do so right after he pees.

Then replace the carpet, again. Repeat process until desired result is achieved. (meanwhile re-mortgage the house). That'll work.;)

I'm not a carpet owner.

Anyway i don't use cat litter for my kitten, i take some sand from the local construction site, make sure there is no rocks in it and just put it in the hamster cage (which my kitten likes to use to pee and crap in)

It's crule to keep cats inside all the time. If you dont have access to the outside you shouldnt have a cat. At the very least you need to have two cats so they can interact.

some cats are just house cats

anyway, the cat pees on the rug. Chances are it aint happy with the litter maintenance ;) You wanna send him a message, he's sending you the message, hehe

Pee on the carpet. That'll teach 'em.

Ours started doing that when it got sick, and after being treated it stopped. Maybe you should take it to the vet. And take your mom to a therapist while you're at it.

This smart user on YouTube should teach her cat how to use and flush a toilet.

First order of business is to take your cat to the vet to rule out any medical issue. She may have a urinary tract infection or some other problem that prevents her from controlling her bladder.
Once medical issues have been ruled out, you should check the litter box to make sure that it is located in a convenient location and properly cleaned.
It is generally against the cat's natural instinct to urinate in open space, so something must be wrong.
