How can it be? Corrupted after LLF?

I low level formatted my hard drive. Wrote zeros to it with Western Digital's WDDIAG.exe.

It tested as clean. Yet I still cannot format it to NT. I cannot format it at all... It is still saying it is corrupt!

I know the 2000 install cd is ok because I just installed it on another computer

It cannot be a BIOS incompatibility, because it ran at one time Win 98 just fine.

Do you have another FAT32 OS you can install? Once the partition is created, try loading 2k, and delete that partition. Then see if you can format it NTFS.

I used to do something simular to yours at work, and then I realized (read: Someone told me) that deleting the partition is as good as low level formatting. Quicker, too.

You might need to FDisk the drive and create a partition before you format; most of the MS operating systems' install routines want to see a partition before they format and install the OS from CD.

yep, you have to
1. make primary dos partition (FDISK)
2. make it active (FDISK)
3. format under FAT32 ( format C: )
