How could I go about doing this?

After my senior year, I want to volunteer (or get paid) at my high school to like be a community outreach type person. You know, someone who is still young and can understand the students, them understand me, and help them however I can. I'd be willing to do it for money, or even for free like once or twice a week or something. However, I don't know how to go about applying for such a position? Should I just ask the principal while in school or something? Also, when should I apply for said position, like end of the school year, beginning of the school year, middle of the school year, after I graduate, or when? This would just be like a side job for me, and it's something that I really want to do.

Any and all such programs, if your school has one, would only exist as sanctioned by the school administration. It would also be a volunteer-basis, so don't expect to be paid.

Bottom line? Talk to your principal.

Yeah I figured talk to my principal. Or the superintendent.

good plan to meet high school chicks.

err I mean yes what he said they could never pay you for that kind of position. It's kind of why it's considered a volunteer job. :)

Do you plan on going to college in the same town as your HS, or skip/delay college?

Just be sure you talk to your principal first. You don't want it to look like you're going over anyone's head without talking to them.

And are you going to do this instead of going to College/University? Because I would strongly encourage you to do some post-secondary education in the mean time so you can pass on what it's like to the kids; believe me when I say that University is absolutely nothing like high school.

If by nothing you mean a bajillion times better? Then yes, I'm another vote for go to college bro. The people are smarter, the classes are better, and most importantly, the girls are hotter. It's a win win win!

At my high school, we had a position called Board of Education Representative. Basically, he or she was someone appointed by the principal to attend Board of Ed. meetings and give the students' opinions on the topics at hand. I'm sure you're district could work out something similar to that.

That is exactly what I mean! :D

I miss university.

you really need some life experience, the schools here (Australia) would have had some sort of community service/outreach/duke of Edinburgh awards program operating through high school as part of their everyday education programs ... lacking that google voluntary positions in your area and sign up to 10 of them ... they will be happy to let you 'try and see' what they are without making a long term commitment... pick the most confronting ones ... say youth homelessness... after a couple of months you will know what is required to run a program in your school ... if your there, people will come to you about child abuse , teen pregnancy, homelessness, drug issues etc.

Sounds kind of like risking "corruption of minor" charges with that kind of attitude?

From what I can tell, do college and stuff, and if you really want to do it, do it over the summer.
