You hadn't joined when Civ3 came out...
Shhhh...Let him live with his delusions and we will all be better off.

Lots of 10th year anniversaries coming up. maybe we need a
"best memories" thread for those celebrating such a milestone. :)

I thought I was gonna be the first to post my own 10 year anniversary at CFC. Been planning to for a about 2 years. I've been circumvented!

I joined CFC to discuss Rhye's and Fall of Civilization, but somehow I immediately migrated towards the OT section. Don't know why!

Which reminds me: I really should try Rhye's latest version. It has been a few years!

I remember when Rhye was just some CFC guy promoting his mod like he was anyone else. His original mod was good and popular, but it wasn't gangbusters like Double Your Pleasure. It was wild to see his work evolve to one of the premier modes of play! (congrats to him!) Interesting thing about Rhye was that he was had a certain force of character that got him noticed no matter what stage he was at.

You really, really should. I also strongly recommend taking a look into embryodead's The Sword of Islam modmod, which is just plain brilliant in every aspect.

Sorry. What do you think, should we have a "Best memories" thread for folks to post in as their 10 year anniversaries roll around? I think it would be fun.

I first came to CFC in 2003 or 2004. I can date it because I recall Betazed's AWD Chinese thread and Bamspeedy's Beyond Sid thread. Found my way here via Civ III and google.

I joined OT to make a point in a religion thread, IIRC,

I stumbled upon civfanatics.com looking for civ2 stuff, but by the time I found the forums, I was looking for OT. My post, according to the record, was in computer talk. I still play civ, but I don't post in the civ forums.

I think so too, but I'm not sure how such a thread would keenly highlight the individuals' 10 years--you might start the thread this December, and I might join in next December, but I might post my favorite memories now. This is fine, but it doesn't fulfill my desire to celebrate 10 years on CFC.

Oops, voted for the wrong one. I should have answered "I joined the main forums first." :(

I joined to download Civ 3 mods, as I recall. I slowly migrated from following Sisiutil's games over to OT. And the rest is (tragic) history.

I was lurking for a few months looking at civ 4 strategy and tactics.
My first post was in a thread started by Aimee about
Spoiler :
bridges
:)

For the first month or so I was posting about possible things to go in Civ5. I pointed out to Camikaze the problems of his solution to the supply problem. Then Civ 5 was announced and I decided to wait to see what was in it before posting more about what should be in it. So I started posting mostly in OT.

Bamspeedy played an amazing game--I still remember the dozen-wonder AI cities, the calculation that he has to kill X number of units per turn because X was also the number of cities the AI had and he figured they could produce 1 unit per city per turn... that was a war of attrition for the ages.

I still play Civ4 every so often, but I've mostly moved on. One of the reasons I stuck around was the book recommendation threads, the cooking thread that has since fallen into disuse, and a few others in the history forum. Even then, I've had a few months go by with no posting.

Joined for Civ 3 Stories and Tales. Spent a few posts talking about strategy even though I was garbage at it. Eventually got hooked on the NES forum with sporadic activity in OT and the Civ 3 forums until I finally - in about 2008 or so - started going to the Colosseum way more often.

We are discussing it in staff. Your ideas are welcome.

So does this mean that most of you guy no longer play/are involved in the Civ 3/4/5 and are just here for the Colosseum?

That's true of me, but it's also true of me that I have the body of a Greek god, so overall it's a wash.

I lurked around the CivIII section for about 2 years, but never really had anything to post so I didn't create an account and then I found OT and created one straight away .
