How do I create tribe-specific units?

The answer to my question is probably in this forum somewhere but I haven't been able to find it, so I apologize if this is redundant. I play Civ2gold edition and recently tried creating a scenario on the european map in an attempt to make a Barbary Pirates scenario and have figured thing out fairly well until i got to the unit editor. I would like to make a series or pirate-esque units for the Berbers (I'd actually like to make special units for all the civ's in the scenario) but i can't figure out how to make the pirates specific just to the Berbers, ie;Corsairs are like legions with amphibious attack bonus, but when I create the unit, it's available to all the tribes and not just the Berbers. how does one create units specific to a tribe, like the differennt types of Infintry and Calvary units in the WW1 Scenario (B Inf, R Calvary, etc) Please help, I've invested too much time and effort to give up now.
 
You need to decide on the prerequisite technology for the unit in question.
After that, in your scenario, give this technology via cheat mode/scenario edit to the desired civilization.
Then edit the technology in rules.txt and set prerequisites for it to "no, no" so it will look like this:

Environmentalism, 3, 1, no, no, 3, 2 ; Env

The "no" denotes required technologies (two) to obtain - in this example - environmentalism.
nil means there is no requirement, no means it's impossible to discover.

This will remove the technology from the tech tree entirely and make it impossible to discover it, steal via espionage, conquest or exchange.

So for example, if you only want some Berbers to use Corsairs, then choose the prerequisite technology for that unit to be Environmentalism (just an example, almost any tech will do). Of course you will have to consider changing the name of the tech to fit into your scenario world.

Also you need to remove references to that technology from the tech tree, otherwise all technologies dependent on it will also be impossible to discover (at least for all civs except Berbers).
