Anyone can help me giving tips on how to not get surrounded by everyone trying to kill you, because you're 1 tech ahead? All games i've playing i'm getting ganged by AI because it starts with one AI hating me for being ahead in tech, which enrages another one that is trying to steal neighboring CS and another one cause my culture is too high. Everyone hates me and i feel very overwhelmed by it. How do i surpass it?

NOTE: I dont want to disable the aggression. I find it actually kinda fun, its just that i haven been able to overcome it lol

If you find yourself ahead in the early game go up a difficulty (then they will hate you because you are weak :lol:)

Pick and choose 1 or 2 civs that can get on friendly terms and make an effort to get it: dont be friends with civs that they dislike, dennounce the same civs, share religion if they dont have, trade with them, help them in a war, dont settle close to them, etc. Also, have a strong military, they will hate you just for being weak.

Early game it is not difficult to have some friends if you pay attention to who likes who. Keep in mind your strategy to know who are you gonna anger and focus on other civs

In the endgame it is inevitable (unless you disable aggresion) that most of them hate you if you are ahead

i dont mind being hated in the lategame, because i'm not reaching in that stage LMAO i'm dying earlier.

A few versions ago I had a game as Byzantium where my neighbour was Genghis and Norway was on the adjacent coast. Established a border ASAP, declared war/denounced when they asked (but didn't send units), gave them my religion, gave them spare gold/resources if they asked, and they were in my pocket the entire game. I don't think we ever had a dispute, maybe at the very end when I was about to win. There seems to be something subtle about the early game territorial positioning/yield balance that sets up how the AI's likely to act, because situations like that don't happen to me consistently.

A few notes:

1) build more military. The AI respects strength, and is more loathe to declare on you if you’re a tough target. You may be focusing on science too much over military.

2) use denouncements. This is a tool I used to ignore but it’s a very powerful one. Trying to play peaceful with everyone tends to mean your not super tight with anyone either.

Instead, pick the key civs you want to be friends with, and then denounce their enemies. This will help solidly diplomatic ties

Aye, who likes who. In Civ 4, you could click on an AI in the circle shown in diplomacy and it would show you the relations with everyone else. Now you can only do that with their Culture/Tourism rating. IDK why they had to eliminate one to install the other.

There is a circle like this in the "Diplomacy" section IIRC.

I just clicked the Diplomacy tab. I only see lists, no circles. Can anyone confirm it's in Civ 5, beyond venturing an IIRC?

4.2.7 Diplomacy->Relationships graph. I have some UI mod-mods as well (trade opportunities, squad vp, city-screen). I'm guessing if it's a mod-mod, it's "trade opportunities").

Thanks but I'm new to the forum and not inclined to venture into a highly developed series of mods, skillful as they might be. Vanilla.

this is not something I've encountered. never had the AI hate me for being ahead in mid or early game

Yes, agree with Rustonreddit and rkkn: if ou hover your mouse over the relationship indicator in the list of AI in the upper right, you can see the reasons they dislike you: "covet your wonders" is one cause, but that's rare until later in the game.
