How Do I Remove Civs From A Scenario?

I took a map from another scenario with 12 positions and have been re-working it for one of my own with six. It's a "Huge" map
and I've already put a lot of work into it. Today I realized that the six positions I don't want are still showing up on the starting menu.
If anybody chooses them, it will totally screw up the story I'm setting up.:wallbash:

I'm guessing my mistake here was in not using a new map file to begin with, but I've already made the mistake,
so is there any way to save this without starting all over again?

So you have 12 civs on the map, and NO cities (or units), and you only want to have 6 civs?
Then you should maybe take a look at these instructions. They are meant to get rid of all preset civs on a map, so that you only have random civs, but in an adjusted way it will work for your case, because you essentially want to get rid of half of the civs.

Actually I've already put a lot of cities on the map, plus some resources and improvements. That's the "worK" I mentioned above.

Well, I'm trying to set out a specific story so it's not all that random. However, I will look at the link you gave me and read the instructions.
I appreciate you taking the time to help. Thanks.

Sorry for not responding immediately. Your instructions worked (of course), but not immediately, because I'm so dense at this stuff.

In the past two days I have repeatedly edited, started, reedited, and restarted my little scenario. I have gained new respect for the enormous focus and concentration demanded of people who do coding for a living. The slightest little mistake and the damn program doesn't work. I must have opened the game ten times only to be told "You Have Been Defeated!" I stuck with it though because your instructions made so much sense that I knew it had to be something I was overlooking. I'm sure it was good for my character (or some crap like that).

Anyhow, long story short, I now have the exact six civs I want in the places where I want them. A few more cities put down, and I'll be ready to fill in the units and resources, and then I can finally start playtesting.

Many thanks.
