How do install mods/maps?

Scenarios (worldbuilder saves) have fixed resources.

Some map scripts do their own resource placement and therefore need to be modified to get new resources in them. But most map scripts use the values defined in the XML to place them.

In the CIV4BonusInfos.xml file, many values are involved in placement (most of them, actually). I suggest copying them from some bonus that has a similar placement quantity and location. Modiki page for this file is here.

There is another question: when you were in worldbuilder, did your new bonus type show up on the list of bonuses you can place on the map? If not, you have some other issue.

Have a look at your folder directories in Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4...

You will find a number of folders there that you can install your mods in.

For World Builder Saves you want \Saves\WorldBuilder

For custom mods you want to either put them in your CustomAssets folder in the proper directories, or place an entire mod with it's own Assets folder in your Mods folder. Most of the time the modder will specify which folders to place the given mod in. My suggestion is to never ever overwrite the files in the original Assets folder.

That sounds like its for windows. Can you help me install mods for the mac.

I still play Civ IV as I hate Civ V. All I'm trying to do is play the earth 18 civs scenario but change the civs and leaders. I don't want any modern civs like England, Russia, USA, I want to replace with Vikings, maya, celts etc. I've tried saving the world map for me to load when starting a new game (custom world) but it never comes up.
