Hi... I know that we can finish the game by conquering everyone or by having a culture domination... but I've read that we can retire at 2050 AD ... How does it works? I mean... When we retire we don't loose automaticaly? what happens?... If I got the biggest score at 2050 AD and I retire I will be considered as the winner ?

Thanks...

N.B. : I know i'm posting a lot here... but it's because I'm new to civ III and I'm learning a lot... thanks everyone hehe.

At 2050 the game will open a special retire dialog that will allow you to win if you have the highest score.

I think, otherwise, you'll lose if you retire manually, even with the highest score? Not positive about that, but that's what I remember happening.

Nope, you can still score a histographic victory if you retire early with the highest score. I had it happen a couple of days ago. :)

There are several ways to end the game: conquest, cultural victory, etc., but also getting killed ;) and retire in 2050. It's simple: if you reach 2050, the game ends. But I'll only note the way your finished. For the ranking I just use the score, regardless of how you end the game.

Thanks for correcting me. I try to retire as little as possible since I hate cluttering up the High Scores page.

Runaway, if you like the replay movie and associated hoo-hah as much as I do, you can retire as often as you like, then just edit the highscores file in your civ directory to erase the clutter.;)

Hey, that's a good idea! Ofcourse my high scores are also cluttered because of all the GOTM scores. Thanks! :goodjob:
