How do you create an army?

I have a leader. I have stacks of archers and spearmen in the city where the leader is located. Whenever I click 'B' to 'Build Army' the GL changes to an Army but the stats are 0.0.1 instead of what it should be with the archers and spearmen.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You have to activate the units and press 'L' to load them into the army.
