How do you do the suicide galley?

Use the keyboard arrows. Using the move command of drag and drop will save you from moving to terrain where your vessel could sink.

You can only move one square at a time into sea or ocean squares. Move your galley up to the nearest ocean tile for example: Then move it one tile into the ocean. Good Hunting!

You may want to make an effort to end on sea squares, as the risk of sinking on ocean squares is even higher. Not that the risk on sea squares is exactly low...
Also, you are more likely to see land from a sea square since, generally, they're close to land.
