I want to add some resources into the game, but I need a way to edit the .pcx files to do this. I know that some of you with mods obviously know how to do this. Can you please tell me how?

If it requires a program, can you point me where to download that program?

    Thanks :)

What is the difference between Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop? Can you get the full version of Photoshop for free?

Hehehehe....so I guess Photoshop is the better of the two then? ;)

Maybe I should just buy the full version of Paint Shop Pro...but it just seems so expensive...and I wouldn't use it enough. :undecide:

    Yes PhotoShop is better.

If you are a student you might be able to get a Student license of the product, it's much cheaper.

Are you talking about an upgrade from a previous version or something? The full version is closer to $600 I think.

Sounds about right, I have a grad student friend who got a crippled student edition for $350.

Check out my mod (link in sig). I used Lview pro to create the advisor screens. Lview canbe downloaded and evaluated free for 30 days. It only does mostly basic stuff but its pretty decent

GIMP is a good freeware editing program. The interface is a bit different than most of the others, but works well. And, well, it's free! GIMP won't work with .gif files, as that format requires licensing to put in an editor, works with .pcx and most other common formats though.

You could take that money , book a flight to Bankok , have a good time and on your way back to the airport buy Photoshop 7.0 for 4 Dollars .
Unless you feel that would be unethical ...;)

GIMP sounds like what I'm looking for. I just need to edit the *.pcx files in Civ3 to add units and natural resources. If it gets it done, it gets it done. Where can I get it?

A couple hundred bucks, give or take. Photoshop has a pretty hefty price tag! About $1000 Canadian, or aboout $600 US. Excellant program though!

Welcome, hope you like it. The interface takes a bit of getting used to, but it works well.

Lview is what I use. It's nothing great, but it can be quite versitile and it only cost $40 for the license! I guess you could say it's the poor man's picture editor.

I used it very successfully (and relatively easy) just last night to add resources to my game. :D

Depends on what your definition of "good time" is.
