So me and a friend both downloaded the same custom map to play on together but it won't show up in our options for map type? I ran to Google hoping for an answer but all I got was you need to move the map to your maps folder in order for it to be usable, however, I have no where where Steam put this map. I've done a search on the map name in windows explore and it didn't find it and I can't find a mods folder anywhere. Another source I came across said it's not possible to load up custom maps in internet multiplayer, so which is true?

Yeah, you have to put it in your maps folder. To find it easily: go to Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps. You could also go into Steam, open Properties by right clicking on Civilization V in your library, and go to the Local Files > Show On Disk (or whatever it's called).

And you can load custom maps in MP, but only if you have BNW.

Edit: Or maybe if you have the latest patch, but I think it was BNW only

Apparently custom downloads is put into your documents folder. So you have to get the maps from there, and put them in the Steam folder with all your Civ V maps.
