How do you maximise Mac windows?

I'm using a Mac now and I have to maximise the windows manually.

Under OS 9: it's the first of the two buttons to the top/right from memory. The other reduces it to its title bar.

Under OS X: the green button at the top/left of the window. The red one closes it and the yellow one minimize it.
