How do you play beyond 2050AD?

I am always forced to retire at 2050AD so cannot progress to the end of the game - spaceship etc.

How do I solve this? Am I selecting the wrong things at the starting menus?

Please help?

You can play beyond 2050, but the histo condition kicks in and the victory is awarded to someone. You can play on, just just select the gimme one more turn option. You cannot change that. You can change how many turns you have till 2050.

The start selection has a selection to set the number of turn to up to 1000.
