And this is a poll, not a question about how to win.

Myself, I go for Ascent to Transcendence. Usually the Hive and the Believers control the Planet, and they are not very nice to poor old Provost Zakharov in University Base , thus I can't go for Diplomatic Victory. Conquest has never applied to me, neither in Civilization nor in SMAC, and Economic seems just a bit risky since you'll get twenty or thirty units suddenly bombarding your capital.

I always go for the Ascent To Transcendence. I'm a rabid peacenik, so conquering is out for me. I tried to go for an economic victory several times, but didn't have enough cash.

I did win a couple of times by diplomatic victory, once by military conquest. (miracle for a player like me) I did never win by trancedence. I am trying to do that with my last game which I still haven't finished.

I usually try to win by transcendence, but I've only won by that method once. Usually, I simply declare myself the supreme leader.

Fun way to win: Make sure that YOU have 3/4 votes personally at electing a leader, then get everybody to vote against you. Since you have most of the votes anyway, simply vote for yourself, and there: You just declared yourself leader, even though you were the only faction to vote for yourself! (Yes it 's probably stupid, but I think it's funny.)

Since I play the Hive, I usually go the conquering route, but if you want it to end more quickly, towards the end of conquering you have all the council votes, so if I don't want to spend a long time mopping up the other factions I just elect myself supreme leader.

I normally win the two fold way. Get elected supreme ruler, then have to fight and kill Yang when he does not go with the planetary vote.

Interesting - has this happened often? I've never had anyone contest the vote.

Why I play, about 75% of the time I get elected Supreme Ruler, either the Hive or the Believers do no go along with it. Normally it is Yang, but if I have beat him down the Believers do not submit. I also play nothing but Transcend so this may increase this happening.

Also, one side doing a major atrocity causes a side to fight the Supreme Ruler. Normally it is not me doing this (unless I wipe a city during a sunspot) but this is what causes it. In most games Yang ends up planet bustering somebody.

Supreme Ruler, and like the man said about 75% of the time.... it's almost clock work and the other 25% is just a bad game.

For me, it depends on one main factor: what faction I am playing. If I'm Morgan, I go for economic victory; with most of the others I go for transcendence or supreme leader. The exception is that as the Spartans I usually try to conquer, but often my patience gives out and I take the transcendence route. Endgames can be tedious, although sometimes they're great fun, just torturing and annoying the opponent as they wait out your victory.

i tend to go for an economic victory if possible its more challenging and gives me a greater sense of acomplishment if I pull it off

I try to win by being elected supreme leader, or I go for the transcended, in most of the games I also uses the "divide and conquer" tactics along the way to ensure that I will reach my goals, I consider this as an good way to get rid of any pesky opponents.
I have only once won by the economic victory.

Economic. Your militarys f*** around with me, they get purchased and slammed in your face. Yang started lipping me off today, and in 2 turns I bought 8 bases of his Occasionally transcendance, and if I'm provoked, Military. Diplo is usually impossible since I tend to be VERY unpopular

I near always Trascend or Call the Progenitor troops(Caretakers forever ). Never won by conquest, in Diplomacy there's always someone who does not accept my ruling, and I have only won by Economy 1 time.

I like to build up then conquer the world, developmental conquest. I like to be the largets faction by a considerable amount then squash a coaltion of foes at once!!

It is fun to be a renegade agaisnt the rest of the factions.
