How does nuclear missile defense work?

I see that if a bomber delivering a nuke takes more than 50 HP damage from anti-air units, the attack will fail. How does defense against nuclear missiles work, considering they don't have HP like the bombers?

Eventually nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missiles became so powerful that the whole idea of air defense became somewhat quixotic, and interest in civil air defense waned.

Nuclear missile defense works in-game the same way it does in the real world - it doesn't. Mutually Assured Destruction all the way baby!

I have never ever fired upon by a nuclear missile ever, not even in deity.
I am not bragging but curious if this happened to you?

some units have air defense such as battleships and aa guns, they stop bombers from doing nuke runs, not sure if they fork on missiles too
