How does Random Personalities work?

I often play with this game setting but it just occured to me I don't understand much about how it works.

First question: Would it be more appropriate to call it "Shuffle Personalities" or are the leaders in these games truly unique. I seem to remember it being the latter so I'll assume that, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Second question: To what extent are some of the parameters fiddled with for the leaders?

I ask because in a few RandPersonality games I've played the players have tended to be fairly peaceful but it could have just been the luck of it. For example, if there's a parameter called iWar which is usually between say 40 and 70 for most leaders, can it be anything between 1 and 100?
I'd imagine that some adjustments would naturally contradict each other. If a leader is more likely to declare but less likely to build military this could potentially make RandPers games easier if the leaders are less effective than the standard leaders.

Thirdly: Feel free to post your experience with Random Personalities.

First: Unfortunately, it only shuffles existing ones around.

Second: not at all, as far as I know. However, seeming contradictions aren't necessarily self-defeating. For example, the aggressive leader with low military focus sounds quite competitive to me... there's a power check that is supposed to prevent hopeless wars so all that combination should create is an opportunist (build peaceful but knock heads if the neighbours are weak).

You will find that ANY leader who gets a "trader" personality, and isn't too bothered about others religious etc. status, will become a tech monster.

You will also realise that Mansa is actually not a good trader at all. Give his personality to The Vikings or Dutch (for example) and see how it really works.

While the personalities are literally "shuffled around", it never seems to be that way, in an actual game. This is of course due to many other factors, plus the ind leaders' traits. As I said before, if Ragnar becomes Mansa, he doesn't become Mansa, he becomes much better as a Mansa clone. Lizzy can be as bad. Any of the Rome leaders with a Monty attitude, becomes again FAR more dangerous than Monty due to Rome's UU and traits..

So shuffled, but not the same ;)

Ok thanks for the clarification. Of course, my second question was only really relevant if I had the answer to the first already.

So it only shuffles. Reckon they should have called it Shuffle Personalities! It makes sense now and I was starting to expect that when I tried to think how they would create truly random personalities. If they did that you'd probably occasionally strike upon a combination that worked terribly, and the civ would be pretty much hopeless.

I suppose for even greater variance you can throw in Unrestricted Leaders!

Funnily enough, never ever tried that....I suppose I can take a beligerent Gandhi, or a meek and mild Shaka, but Isabella of The Incas? (or in the mod I play which includes other civs and leaders)---Hitler of Israel  ....that's pushing it a bit far for me...

So, if I use Tokugawa of the Korean empire, I would have agg/pro traits with UB = Seowon, UU = Hwacha, and I would start off with Mysticism and Mining?

Just curious, thanks.

It would be fun if there was a REAL random personalities option, with all the AI paramethers drawned by RNG :D Most of the guys would be crippled, but there could appear some uber-AI from time to time :p

Aw shucks. I just started playing random personalities (I started a thread about it.) I thought the personalities truly were random.

Anyway, Wang Kong must have Shaka's or Stalin's personality, but he's teching well (perhaps because of financial and his UB.)

What I thought I had come across was a new super AI script, that's how much problems this guy's giving me.
