How does the alliances mechanic rate?

For example, if my nation is becoming a military superpower over the course of the game, do other civilizations form alliances with that in mind? For example, if they’re not friendly with me, maybe they get with other people that are not friendly with me. Do they seem to have some intelligence behind the way that they organize their alliances? Or is it to get the highest amount of yields?

If two equal war mongering civilizations join forces, they essentially combine their military potential. That should make them bolder? Does it?

Have they made it so that allied nations can win the game together yet?

There are no joint wars in this game - or any other civ game. You declare, and your ally can declare a separate war as well, but they don't need to (and get a little penalty in return). Same for you: if your ally gets attacks, you are asked to also declare your own war on the aggressor, but you don't have to.

No. And I'm not sure it has sense to it the way this game (or the previous ones) are designed. In 7 specifically, you need to complete all milestones in a path and then build the final project/wonder. Why would my ally win as well when I build the Manhattan Project, send the first human to space or establish the World Bank?

While there aren't true joint wars yet, the game sorta replicates that imo since the penalty for not also attacking the enemy is the alliance ending
