- predatory dlc practice with ages/civilizations/leaders which can limit modding a lot
- age and civilization switching, man I really don't like that mechanic.
- no TLS Earth
- deanuvo, if ever buy will wait for removal.
- too little about modding support for now
- as a RP player I don't care about victory but how AI will perform without victory conditions.
- diplomacy looks very basic

Now it's 1 for me but depends on modding support and what I can fix by mods.
If support will be very limited because of predatory dlc that will go to 0, if I can soften switching with mods and remove deanuvo then will go up to 9.
Also big question how limitation of ages and switching will work with Earth map.
I don't mind dlcs, I can throw money into civ, just gib me unlimited modding support. :D

I'm just getting more and more excited about this game. I had hopes from the start and I'm pretty sure this could be a game I'd enjoy quite a lot. Will it surpass my old lover Civ4? Still I have not pre-ordered. I'm a little curious how my Intel Iris Xe Graphics will tackle this game. I'm waiting for answers when the game releases. Rating: 9

still 8, still cautiously optimistic.

I know i can still boot up 4 or 5, but i think more than the civ switching i am gutted that i wont be able to play earth tsl games anymore on the latest version as a result of the changes

would depend of modding capabilities, and at this point I've seen nothing that would prevent it.

I can't be sure of course, but if the few mentions by the devs are true (ie very similar to civ6), geographical unlock on TSL or removal/workaround of civ-switching should be possible.

I thought your name looked familiar!
You cannot imagine how many hours i have spent playing on your civ 5 maps pack.

Fingers crossed modders can do something yes.

Sadly, you are the minority on the civ-switching and modding for disable that is impossible. May be can stick on the older games while we will steamroll into Civ VII.

Truth is, everyone on reddit and this website absolutely love it, and anyone who objects it will be seen as an outcast.

Absolutely! Playing against Catherine the Great leading the Shawnee, a dream come true! Wonder why Sid Meier didn't come up with this most brilliant idea in the first place! :nope:

So the numbers for this series of 3 polls is showing that the excitement for Civ 7 has been steadily increasing :)

1st poll: 47% selected 8-10
2nd poll: 53% selected 8-10
This poll: 57% selected 8-10

Seems like this might bode well for the release!

Older polls get more votes just because they are older - some people come to forum irregularly. And a lot of other reasons for people not voting there. Unlike the poll itself, it's not a direct indicator.

There’s a reason stats are reported with percentages :) A sample size of 200 or 350 for an informal poll like this doesn’t indicate much of anything one way or the other.
Ok, then here is a percentage for you: Poll participants are down from the first poll to this one by 43 %. It should be the other way around, especially considering the fact that we get closer to the release date, and usually people get more hyped, the closer the release date is!

We had this discussion before... the "irregular" votes tend to be lower than the "regular" votes in this case.

Why should they? You're inferring a causal relationship that isn't guaranteed.
  • Maybe the maybes have dropped off.
  • Maybe the nos have dropped off.
  • CFC is a microcosm; it doesn't map equally across all fan communities.
The Venn of this and previous polls isn't guaranteed to show circles inside circles. A direct subset is in no way a safe assumption.

I think it has been established in other spheres of polling that disinterested voters do not engage with polling or with the specific action for which the polling is being performed.

Regardless, I think conversation regarding the polling results should be warranted, otherwise why have the poll at all?

It’s wholly unhelpful to refer to everyone who might not share your enthusiasm about a game mechanic an “outcast.”

If you pay closer attention to the discussions on this forum, you will see that there is a great diversity of opinion on most everything Civ-related.

Warranted, sure. Most conversations are. Especially here in a gaming subforum, dedicated to game discussion itself (and related tangents). I'm engaging with it! Saying "I think it relies too much on assumptions" is my position :p

As for what has been established, there are a number of people vocal about their dislike of the game who have participated in every one of these threads. An assumption from me is that if several are confident enough to post, more are confident enough to vote.

Again, just look at trend of the vote count, first votes tend to be higher than the latter votes.
