How is your EU3 Game going?

Was that occupied green country Cologne? What were they doing in Lorraine , and that early?

Extreme balance of power in Europe:

I am by far the richest country, (2600, against Castille's 1600) and the balance of power will keep it that way.

Very interesting is the situation in Austria. They are surrounded by a powerfull Bohemia, Bosnia and then Castille and France has op's in their expansion path. Which likely means they won't expand much.

Since Europe is in such a state, i guess i can help make it even worse with some wars abroad, to maintain the balance :D

Also notice the relative failure to colonize northern Africa, and the subsequent strong Fez.

I need it so they won't kick my ass ! Plus they can prolly kill all my overseas provinces as they keep waging war all over the place with Mutapa, Inca, some north american tribes, Malacca, some persian states. (not all those wars at the same time tho)

So they're fighting wars all over the globe and you're scared of them? :confused:

Assemble a substantial navy (at least one stack of 36 big ships, two stacks of these would be best to keep on in Europe and another in the Americas), gather an army in Iberia, stick a good general and a good admiral on these and the next time the English DoW anyone, you DoW them the following day.

Leave some 6k troops in Iberia for them to siege the Basque country while the doomstack army (some 30k would be enough) goes aboard the doomstack navy and lands on the British isles - chances are their navy will be far away (in Indonesia or Persia or wherever) and they'll have minimal troops on their mainland, just quickly crush any defenders they do have and spread out, leaving your troops besieging all provinces they can (just remember, at least 1k ground troops per fort level, horses and cannons alone are hardly any help). Just don't be eating attrition if you don't have to and you'll be free to occupy everything as their reinforcements from overseas will take forever to arrive (if they do arrive) and you'll very easily beat them into submission.

If you don't occupy their mainland, you'll never gather enough war score and the war will take forever. However, if you do as I just said, you'll see how easy it can actually be.

I'd also advise you to use your troops in the Americans to seize some of their overseas colonies for good measure (if they're still colonies, you can just send troops there and take them forcefully with only .1 infamy per 100 inhabitants - just don't take anything for 4 infamy).

Oh and btw, just lost the alliance. I got atacked by the Inca and they didn't want to join (even tho i never asked them too!) so the alliance is done for, can't even bring it back for some unknown reason too.

See? They don't even care for you. The only allies you need other than any vassals your PU partners you might have is France to act as a buffer with the rest of Europe. Keep France and the Pope above 150 relations and that's should be all you need for diplomacy. Oh, and the AIs will be much less likely to accept alliances if either them or you have more than 3 allies (vassals and PUs excluded), so that might be it, though again, I'd advise you to ignore them and focus on France instead.

You don't actually need to change your heir's name to alter their regnal name. Just changing their regnal name will be sufficient (if that's what you're after).

Yeah, that was Cologne. I don't actually know what they were doing there that early, but they had a lot of land by the time I discovered them. If it hadn't been for me, it could have been a very successful Cologne.

No, i started two concurrent games as Muscowy and England ;)

Amazing. I think I had heard a bit about the England game, but even so, if you'd started a game as someone other than the Byzantines in early December, it would've been confirmation that the world was about to end.

Both my and tk's comments were in reference to the now-infamous thread started by the poster Mouthwash about Mongols:

Ahhhh... I'd seen that thread, but never read it before...

Seconded. I didn't know this was possible.

Can you do this in-game? Because then I would be over-joyed. I got sick of playing as England and having Yorks named James and Charles. I think I have edited at least a dozen of the country files to change the names that come up, and I've edited my saves probably on the order of 100 times to "fix" it.

When an heir that I presume is the son of the previous monarch dies and is replaced with someone of the same name, I change it, when the names don't fit the dynasty, I change them, and I even change them so that certain names show up more often than others based on how my monarchs perform in-game (i.e. the greats have heirs named after them, the unimpressive names are no longer used). I really wish they had an heir naming system sort of like CK2.

also it's annoying to have your heirs named augustus just because you're an empire or w/e

Well, you can't do it in-game, but if you're editing your save-file anyway, just edit the name in speech-marks in the emboldened line below.

heir=
{
name="Miroslav"
DIP=5
ADM=6
MIL=3
id=
{
id=12945
type=37
}
dynasty="Palaiologos"
birth_date="1573.6.13"
death_date="1.1.1"
claim=100
monarch_name="Miroslav III"
}

More on the same game.

Some key players have formed, the Kalmar union, Muscovy, Timurid Empire (not a horde), Britain, France and myself, with Castille and Bohemia following as regional powers...

At least i have westernized.

What you do not see here is the monstrous Korea, which controls all of Manchuria...

Yes. Currently i am only allied to Poland, but i might try to ally with GB. I need them as a buffer and for their vast navy which will blockade any other major power trying to attack.

Well i am still allied to Poland, but now also to GB. Castille had the very bright idea to dissallow trade in their cot's, which will be their end, although i have the US great idea too, so i do not need that provocation at all.

The United provinces (Holland) are getting dangerous. Although they are at war with Poland every 5 years, it seems it cannot contain them any more.

Austria won a war against Bohemia, ending the latters status as regional power.

Although Kalmar union won three provinces from Russia (before it formed; it triggered its formation) i am mostly afraid that Russia will be eaten up by the Timurids.

And Korea is always exanding, they are bigger than China currently...

Also notice the comedy Norway (Iceland)

Next war will be the first serious one in the game for me. Against Castille. In the end of it i plan to have the Iberia a backwater of Europe (many small powers there). Although truth be told Castille is only a second-rate power already... I would instead attack France, but they have probably a 200K army in a continious landmass, and Britain is not known to have massive expeditionary forces either. UP is a third option, but there is nothing to gain for myself in such a war, which might also lead to GB becomming a behemoth, which i do not want either. Maybe DoW on Naples, or that baecelonian dutchy instead, once it owns the sole asia minor province under latin control.

Of course i might instead pull an Alexander the Great and go after the Timurid empire :D

Current plan is this though:

Edit: Hm, now that i have the cb on all heretics, i think i will first go against Bosnia to end their reign of opression of the northern balkan peoples. And of course take some provinces for myself too ;)
