How is your EU3 Game going?

A small update:

Problem now is that France is allied to

GB

Poland

Castille

and some minors like Naples and Bosnia...

I am still only allied to GB and Poland...Seems this game will need a more Byzantine design.

I can ally myself with Austria too, which is again all over the place. I think a Great war to End all wars is looming.

Update:

Spoiler :

The Eternal City has fallen before the might of Byzantine arms!. Milan cowered while the rest of Italy tried to vainly protect Rome. Castille was the only nation that posed a serious threat to my war, landing armies all over my territory in excess of 10,000 men, in many cases I was forced to march my 20,000 armies thousands of miles just to eradicate the threat. So to make Castille pay for my losses in these forced marches, I kicked Castille out of Asia Minor, minus their Trebizond provinces, and also kicked them out of the Middle East. Of course to get Castille to agree to the terms I had to sail, in dangerous waters where Castille's navy is technologically and numerically superior to mine, a large 45,000 stack army and besieged their mainland. I was helped by the fact that England was still at war with Castille and was also besieging Castillian provinces, so Castille readily sued for peace on my terms and the great European war ends.

Also on another note, earlier in the game, my ally, who is no longer an ally, called me in a defensive war against Poland and the T.O. This was truly a great war, involving almost every power in Eastern Europe, the only power who was not involved was Novgorod. I invaded Poland hoping to relieve some of the strain on Bohemia, only to see my powerful 25,000 army annihilated by a smaller 19,000 Polish army. I discovered that the reason for that was primarily due to the fact that Poland fielded cavalry dominant armies in the east. So I rebuilt and created a strong 25,000 cavalry only army and it joined my next infantry invasion and together they cut huge swaths of territory in Poland, nearly cutting them in half before Poland withdrew from the war on White Peace. (Bohemia was war leader.)

Great game Germanicus :)

You will still have another great war with Castille to expand in Africa and Asia. And that Poland looks very powerful...

In my game things are not going that well, unfortunately. Although the slavs collapsed by themselves (revolts) i only was able to take some bits of the newly formed Serbia, and then my greek provinces in the Crimea.

Naples is currently at war with its equal in strength (coalition of France, Castille and GB)...

Still allied to GB, and little more than that. Still will have to ally to Austria and DoW on Castille and France. That will be an epic war indeed.

By the way, the state in Europe is so serious that there has been NO colonization of the new world yet.

Kyriakos, just one suggestion not game related, don't upload your images to the website you're currently uploading as they end up all pixellated, try an website like imgur.com improve the quality :p

Poland is all bark and no bite. Once I solved the issues in the original war, the next war even if it is just between us will be an easy matter of engaging their horse armies and crushing them, and following it up with infantry bringing siege equipments. I allied Novgorod so their armies will handle the east and I can pick off the west. If I plan things right I should leave Poland just a shell of their former self. Especially since most of Poland's armies are in the west, meaning if I move quickly Novgorod will not have to face doomstacks of superior Polish armies that would crush Novgorod and get them out of the war.

The biggest challenge is Castille and the Catholic coalition itching to get Rome back, which is why I now have a strong 45k stack stationed in Rome permanently, just to discourage such thoughts. Needless the say, in my objective to recreate Augustus' Roman Empire, I will have quite a challenge. I plan to knock off Castille then shift my attention towards France and blitz them on two fronts, from the Alps and from the Pyrennes. I will leave England alone, I have no desire to extend my borders into England nor do I plan to go overseas and create North American colonies. Simply take those belonging to Spain and France.

Suggestions are welcome if anyone wants to offer any.

The war against Castille-Portugal came, but it was very strange. It seems Britain had no fleet (!), and i gather it was destroyed in the war against Holland... Which means Holland is superstrong by now.

Anyway i managed to take four provinces from Castille, and get them also to release Granada. This happened because i signed peace with Portugal with recognition of defeat on my part, while they controlled half of Ireland. Britain finally started to build a fleet and i guess Castille saw that it could not win at that point. However i could not win either since my 35K army was facing total anihilation from Castille's north african 35K army with a better general.

But i will have to rethink my alliance with Britain.

I haven't been around much so I'm curious about what people think about D&T and the replacement of Dafool with Sun_Wu.

Onwards with the current empire, 1701. Republican Dictatorship. For those who don't know, Death & Taxes 1356 start: Denmark -> Scandinavia -> HRE. :p

Guyenne managed to migrate to a really cool Caribbean nation with all the small islands and that American holding. I'm really unhappy to having torn them in half, because it was really cool, but my trading interests depended on it. Also, the Knights are sadly being reconqured by Byzans.

EDIT: Also, **** Naples, I always get at war with them due to their ridicubonkers ugly borders and aggressive colonization where I want to colonize. :(

I haven't played D&T since about version 7.14 or so, so I can't really express an opinion on recent developments, other than extending the timeline up to 1918 seems redundant, especially as Lukew had originally said he wasn't going to advance it beyond the ACW.

I gave up on D&T at around version 5.00. Does the UK still have that government type that only it can get and is OP?

--- Random Old Save Alert ---

May 6, 1629

The great Alexandrian Kingdom of crusader kings has shown itself to last longer than expected. The Mameluken remnants were quickly gobbled up, and Ethiopia posed no serious threat. Slow and tiresome wars against the Muslim and pagan defenders of East Africa provided a large power base for the nation as well. A long-standing alliance between Byzantium and Alexandria meant that opportunistic wars made headway into Tripoli and Yemen. Despite having a very weak military, even Mecca itself was taken. The Indian Ocean also provided a handful of strategic colonies.

Now, the prospects of a cultural and religiously homogeneous nation compete with other plans for the future, though that could be a problem given the low wealth of the nation's individual provinces. This has in turn led to a significant lag behind even its own tech group, not to even mention the Western nations.

--- END ---

So... now what? I actually really liked / still like this game but don't know where to go.

Also, I'm sure that something I did was wrong somewhere in there. Critiques appreciated.

That was an extension because some people wanted more time, there aren't new units for the extension or much of anything, just time.

It's been nerfed a bit
I gave up on 4.9, it started going downhill from there with all the unions, the Austrian-Hungarian culture, the crap filter and the provinces they started adding in India.

What do you mean all the unions? They remove the stupid AH culture. What crap filter? The provinces added improve history and balance IRC.

So what does everyone play then?

Has Ubik busted in threatening a lawsuit yet?

I've had one game as Castille -> Spain that I have played off and on in a recent D&T version (I think it's 8.something). Great Britain has formed, but I don't think I've noticed a unique government for them. No A-H yet.
