How long does it take to replac a broken USB port?

Tomorrow I'm taking my computer into the warranty to fix both the CMOS battery & the broken USB port. & I know the broken ones aren't sitting right on the mobo, as the mobo is way in the back and the ports are in the front. Does anyone have an idea how long it will take to replace? (They said if it more than a day, they give me a loaner computer.)

p.s. sorry for the crappy typing, I accixdentally laid on my fingers last night now they all numb.

We were in there today, because mom says it'd be a good idea for me to get another one instead of upgrading my own, but I wanted to look at the specs first and they don't have very much detail. I can't remember the brand name exactly but its a "gamer" computer, and it's got a WD HDD (I could see it inside), an AMD processor, think the OS is Vista but not so sure.
So if they have to give me a "loaner" computer, they agreed to let me use that one, to give me time to look more in detail. As far as I know, it's pretty impressive, except for the fact the optical drive is only a CD-RW/DVD. But there's room for more opticals. Only problem is that if it's a 64-bit Vista, bye-bye 16-bit programs. Then again, that's what I keep my Windows 98 around for.

I'd get a link, but for some reason the stupid site won't work on either Firefox or IE, because of some stupid script.

That is a horrible, horrible, horrible deal.

That works out to $5460.

For that amount of money, you can build a system with quad-SLI, 16GB of RAM, 8 cores, and dual 24" monitors.

A $500 computer from Dell is significantly faster than that.

It's only going to be a loaner for now. I only agreed to shut mom up.

And the reason we have to go with rentals is because my mom will blantantly refuse to pay more than $100 on a single item, unless it's something she want to get anyways. I tried explaining it would be very expensive, but she refuses to budge. And she takes my paycheque so I don't have a choice.

EDIT: I went in to talk to mom again. She ended up going into a screaming fit.

How about buying the parts one by one (and maybe pay somebody to assemble it all for you, if you don't feel confident enough to do it yourself)? You could get a reasonably powerfull PC without spending more than $100 on each individual component.

Or at minimum, get a computer from somewhere else.

You can get a better computer from Dell for $3.5/week, for 4 years.

Sure, it's an extra year, but it's $3.5/week, instead of $35/week.

Seriously, if you're not buying a computer outright, don't go with one of these sketchy companies where you're paying worse than credit card interest, go through Dell, or another reputable company.

the problem is, my mom's kinda a n00b. and would walk off with a computer "because it looks pretty." and she hears an antedocte about something, and bases everything she thinks on that.

They ended up giving me a laptop as my loaner. What happened was I took the loaner desktop home, only to find out that the BIOS boot screen was passworded and we couldn't get in at all. So we took that back (turns out the jerk was mad at the rent-to-own place for taking the computer as he wouldn't pay the bill, so he put the password before ggiving them the computer so they couldn't use it.) And they sent it to the tech guy to clear the CMOS but he had lot of computers to do. so they scrambled to fnd another computer (they were all sold!) and came up with the laptop. an Acer Aspire.

I\ll be getting my computer back monday. Not bad, really. Only have to endure one more full day with this stupid keyboard and uber-sensitive touchpad.

I told mom about how Dell does installments, and I said "maybe other manufacturers do that too, I'd prefer something other than a Dell if I get another one" and she went okay.

Sometimes if you break the end of USB device---meaning get it stuck in the port---you can pry it out with some skinny tweezers. I've done it once. Stupid thing was I actually though I had some weird alternative USB port for a while before I figured out what the problem was.

You do realize that the touchpad sensitivity is probably something that can be changed via the control panel.

The hole was still there, just the metal piece that would hold the USB plug in place came off, so everything falls out. There's nothing inside that I can see.
